We admit, when we read the AP headline, our first thought was that Larry Birkhead had descended to a new low: buying lingerie for his tiny 1 year old daughter, Dannielynn to wear.

Like the kid isn't going to have enough problems without Daddy sexing her up before puberty. Before toddlerhood. Before potty-training!

Fortunately (we're speaking relatively here -- you have to look at the big picture) Larry purchased the pink bustier and white negligee that Anna Nicole wore in a Playboy shoot as memorabilia, to help Dannielynn remember her late mother.

Back in December we brought you breaking news of David Beckham's (probably enhanced) Armani underwear ad campaign. Today those bulge-er-iffic images were finally revealed to the public at large -- 70-feet tall and plastered on the side of a building in San Francisco.

Best of all, Beckham was on hand to show off his man meat sign photos of the ads, making his legions of female admirers ever crazier than they were already. Sure, the ads look great and everything, but honestly people: relax, they're just skivvies.

A lot of people have compared Barack Obama's ability to energize and unite the American people to that of JFK. There's also another resemblance: they're both tongue-in-cheek sex symbols. Very few presidential candidates -- much less the collectively unattractive US Presidents -- ever get the honor of having their face plastered on a pair of designer underwear.

Aside from offering support for dudes who wish they had a more shapely butt, designer Andrew Christian is showing his love for the Democrats' apparent nominee with a new line of Obama-emblazoned boxer-briefs. For $29, you can order these semi-creepy undies in green, blue, or royal blue -- $1 from each purchase goes to benefit the Democrat Party. How generous. We're seriously wondering why he isn't marketing any Obama panties or boy shorts?

To McCain supporters, Christian says: tough shizzle. He's a proud Democrat, plus he doesn't think that anyone would buy boxers with John's mug on them -- and he's probably right. See out McCain's dorky green gear.

It's been relatively under-reported, so you may not be aware that Spice Girl Mel B was announced as the new face of Ultimo Lingerie earlier this year. The lack of press is odd, because the line looks surprisingly good. Regardless, the underwear's appearance isn't the most appealing aspect for Mel B. Rather, she likes it because it makes her feel naked.

"It's not like wearing underwear -- I like walking around naked so it's perfect for me," she told the UK's Sun newspaper. The singer also shared: "It's weird seeing massive posters of me in my underwear ... But it's my body and I like it."

It's conventional wisdom that dudes don't care very much about what kind of undies they're sporting. Well, we say that's only a half truth -- almost all guys are partial to one form of underwear or another. There are few who are so bold as to one day go boxers, and the very next day, go briefs. That's crazy talk.

Now that the results are in from the 2008 Undie Awards, we know that plenty of dudes care about their skivvies enough to nominate their preferred pair for greatness. Not to mention, their votes helped fight cancer. Overall, the winners were all pretty safe choices, because that whole male lingerie thing hasn't quite caught on yet. Still, exotic choices like the male thong were on the ballot, and apparently a lot of men and their partners find them highly desirable.

Whit Honea is a slacker, a borderline degenerate, and a daydream believer. He's also our resident expert on casual chic. If it's comfortable, and not heinous, he's all over it. He's quite charming, really.

Once bitten, Twice Shy, baby. We don't know what that has to do with the company or t-shirts, but we weren't going to be able to go any further in this post without throwing those lyrics out there. The song is just too damn catchy.

Twice Shy features "organic fashion for sinners everywhere." You know who you are. They also have a line, Fig, featuring organic styles for children. Kids, of course, are free of sin, ornery as they can be. They still need organic clothes though.

Triumph International of Japan have a track record of producing innovative/weird bra concepts such as a bra to promote the use of chopsticks (sounds potentially dangerous!) and a bra which could be turned into a shopping bag (whether as it is being worn or afterwards, we're not clear). So why not create a bra which incorporates some nice green, sustainable solar power? (Apart from the fact that underwear rarely needs a power source, of course...)

Watch out Victoria's Secret, here comes Rihanna! Like anybody famous these days, working at what she's good at is not enough. Rihanna wants more.

As much as many of us claim to love thong panties, we'd have to say that the thing we love is the lack of visible panty lines -- it really has nothing to do with comfort. Over at Divine Caroline they have a great post on alternatives to the thong.

We're conducting a spontaneous, unofficial and completely unauthorized (yet nevertheless important) poll on behalf of a new brand who have just released a product to make your eyes pop. And not in a good way. Not only is their product named Nundies, which sounds like a really unpleasant infection to us, but the product is... wait for it... pantyless panties!

You remember Global Hypercolor, right? Those heat-sensitive t-shirts that changed color as you wore them (and then went all funny-looking after a few washes)? We loved ours so much. In fact, we still have a picture of ourselves wearing it at the gates of Disneyworld, circa 1992 (no, you can't see it...) Anyway, now that same technology has been appropriated into another item of apparel: panties.

What qualities would your perfect bra have? Of course, it would have to provide proper support and be comfortable. And, it would need convertible straps so it can be worn with just about anything. It needs to cut low enough for you to wear your deepest neckline, but still provide a seamless appearance under a clingy t-shirt. It should lift and separate, but not so much that it makes your breasts look fake. Oh, and it should be a little sexy, too.

Are we forgetting anything? Because it turns out that building the perfect bra is a lot more scientific than we had realized.

As far as lingerie goes, your specific "needs" will be dependent upon your lifestyle. And we don't mean just your nightlife. If you wear a a lot of skirts and pants that show your pantylines, you need no-show panties. If your pants tend to be of the low-rise variety, you need some undies that will stay low, too. And, if you're an athlete, you need undergarments that stay in place during strenuous activity (you know, the kind of strenuous activity that requires you to keep your clothes on).
