When we were wee little girls, our moms helped us define our sense of style. Sometimes they bought us that fabulous candy necklace we'd been eying at the dime store, once in a while they let us experiment with their makeup, and occasionally they let us pick out our own outfits for school and allowed us to leave the house wearing leg warmers, shorts, and a sweater because it was helping us figure out who we were.

Now is your chance to help Mom out. Is she in a style rut? Often, as women age, they find what works for them and just sort of stick with it. And while you might not be ready to take Mom out for a whole new wardrobe, you can help her update her look with some fab accessories -- click through the gallery for ideas.

Considering that the other ads in this campaign consisted of images like a woman grabbing a man's crotch, and a nude woman ironing while a man smokes a cigar and drinks some champagne -- it's hard to understand why the Italian Advertising Institute singled out this ad for banishment. For some weird reason, this is the straw that broke the camels back.

Three women's magazines that contain the banned ad have already been published, but the rest will have to be re-printed, or else be put on the shelf with the nudie magazines. Geez, that's a lot of wasted paper. We have to hand it to Ford, not only does he make great suits and sunglasses that you can find at Costco, but he turns out some of the most provocatively sexy ads around.

Aviator sunglasses are so hot this season, but that in itself sometimes creates a problem -- everybody's wearing them. We always like to take a trend and find a slightly different way to rock it out, and that's why we're loving these.

Adults aren't the only ones who need to protect their eyes from the sun -- little ones need that protection, too. And, just because your little one is a little furry (or a lot) and walks on all fours (and always will), that doesn't mean they can't get in on some stylin' sunglasses, too.

Think about it -- if you're outside, chances are they're outside, too. Right? So why not protect their eyes and give them some hot accessories in the process? Check out the gallery for the hottest styles for the small and/or furry ones in your life.

Some guys don't really accessorize -- baseball caps don't count. They don't have the necklace, earring, scarf, and handbag options that women have. Probably most of them are pretty happy about that. However, when it comes to sunglasses, guys are right in the with the gals -- there are plenty of choices to keep you looking fashion forward.

The best thing is, you can wear them, like, every day! Without washing them! And nobody will make fun of you! I know that's not how all guys feel about fashion, but for those of you who want your style to be easy and painless, sunglasses are a great way to amp up your style without putting in too much effort.

Two of the big trends for guys this season are the continuation of the aviator and the shield as well as some funkier plastic frames, like the Rayban Wayfarer we saw popping up last summer (and in Risky Business). And, as with the ladies' sunglasses, tortoise shell is poised to step up as a big trend for the guys.

Know what makes me feel like a movie star? Rhinestones in my sunglasses. But how about sunglasses with actual diamonds?

First things first: I can't have these. Can you? I consistently lose the 30% of my sunglasses that I don't break, then wreck with superglue. The problem? It gets dark. It gets dark and I don't "wear my sunglasses at night"** so I put them in my purse or set them on the table. I like to wear big sunglasses like these, so in order to carry a hard-shell case, I'd have to get a bigger purse and possibly a camel to carry it with, as there's already a lot of stuff in there.

These sunglasses are pretty great looking. German design, gold on black, and 1.65 carats of diamonds on the temples. Purchasing these sunglasses for the coming season would be sort of like saying "Oh hey, spring! I'm rich!"

You could wear Mary Kate Olsen draped around your shoulders and a feed sack and still feel chic wearing these glasses, appraised in Beverly Hills at $4,500. Why? Because money feels good. There, I said it. Bidding starts at $3,500 to wear fifty-five diamonds like an international jewel-thief. The eBay listing calls the style "Hip-Hop." I think the style is more "retro princess."

Except! These are men's sunglasses. WTF? Men, I ask you, do you want to wear bejeweled sunglasses? Who are you, Bob Hope? I don't care if you're P-Diddy; bejewelled sunglasses on men look silly.

I have to admit, I have a pretty serious collection of sunglasses, but hey -- I live in the south and it's always sunny! And eye health is important, y'all! Plus, almost all of them are really pretty.

Out of all my sunglasses, though, I only have one pair of Oakleys, and I really just got them for sports because they stay put so well -- I certainly didn't get them because they made me look like Audrey Hepburn. I really always thought that Oakley sunglasses were generally designed with rednecks and baseball players in mind.

It's not everyday (or any day for that matter) that I get to shop for men's sunglasses but today I did. I was pretty clueless at the start because to me all men's glasses look the same so I asked the salesclerk for a little assistance.

My victim makeover candidate and I were directed towards the brand Maui Jim, which was a new label to me. Maui Jim glasses are made with super-thin polarized lenses, 20% thinner than most to be exact and scratch resistant. I don't know if you have ever looked at the world through polarized lenses but I can tell you that it's pretty darn cool.

My test subject tried on many pairs of shades by Maui Jim but the clear winner was the 'Kahuna' shape. The rectangular frame was perfect for his face and he even got a compliment from some random guy passing by.

These glasses are available in a gunmetal color and a copper for $259 at Nordstrom stores and Nordstrom.com.

It's hard to beat a great pair of shades. Everyone knows that -- for whatever reason -- wearing glasses makes you appear smarter to others. I don't know if that applies to sunglasses, but I know for sure it applies to these. Ray Ban is re-issuing a limited-addition set of their iconic Wayfarer sunglasses -- and they fold.

I usually try to stay away from designs that have unnecessary parts that can break, but these are so cool that I can overlook the folding thing. These shades are classic and they have about the most impressive resume of any other model of men's sunglasses in fashion history -- aside from aviators maybe.

You can't go too far wrong when you're wearing the same shades as James Dean, JFK or Bob Dylan. You can even 1 up those dudes, because yours fold -- and they come with a leather carrying case.

When you have ridiculous amounts of money to spend on whatever you want (like $10,000 handbags, for instance), you never need to wear the same outfit twice. However, some of young Hollywood's trendy fashionistas take this a step too far.

Take, for example, Hayden Panettiere, who apparently can't sit through an entire lunch date without changing her sunglasses three times.

Apparently the starlet was trying to get the attention of Ryan Gosling, who was eating at another table. The ploy worked, as he got up and asked for Panettiere's number somewhere between the second and third pair.

The best part is that I'm sure each pair of those sunglasses cost as much as my entire winter wardrobe.

Unbelievable.

Finally there are designer sunglasses that are affordable and great looking. Marc Jacobs has a great line of sunglasses this season from his Marc by Marc Jacobs collection. Most of the glasses in the collection are only $90.

$90 may not sound like an "affordable" to some but to those who are into designer sunglasses, you know that you can easily shell out anywhere from $200-$500 for a pair of sunglasses. Give your wallet a break and grab a few pairs from Marc.

Some of personal favorites are the over-sized wrap glasses that have the MJ logo splattered all over. I also love the aviator lenses, the plastic ones above are great for a casual ensemble and these metal aviators have a swankier look about them. This funky rimless design even comes in a variety of colors -- a new pair for every outfit.

You can find these glasses at Marc by Marc Jacobs boutiques, Nordstrom, and other fine department stores. Or if get lucky like I did, you can score a pair at the Nordstrom Rack for a cool $64 ... gotta love discount shopping.
