Chris Benz and Elettra Wiedermann: BFF, SFL, and all those other acronyms we scribbled on our notebooks as kids

As the popular 80s hip hip group Whodini once said: "Friends, how many of us have them?"

Well, we're not sure how many cool or riddiculous friends Elettra Wiedermann and Chris Benz have between them, but we do know the two are very, very fond of each other.

Before Elettra packs up all of her things in New York to study biomedicine at The London School of Economics and Political Science this fall, Style.com managed to snag a interview with her and designer Chris Benz.

In ths clip, watch as the buddies giggle, talk about how awesome the other one and discuss a little bit of fashion in between. Enjoy.

Opening Ceremony's Olympic activities still rage on

Filed under: Style in the News, Celebrities with Style

While the most of us have been glued to the TV for the last couple of weeks watching some the world's best athletes compete at the Beijing Olympics, there's another group of people competing in a very fierce retail competition stateside.

In honor of the summer Olympics, Opening Ceremony released a limited-edition run of metallic gold and silver Air Max 1 and the Nike LunaRacer. They also threw a really big party, too, and even had jewelry designer Philip Crangi host a ping pong match in their store.

Luckily, the good people at Style.com went and documented all of the madness for those who are more into Micheal Phelps instead of Marc Jacobs right now. In this clip, watch as a slew of guests breakdown their funky outfits, amongst other things.

Stylish summer reads

Being the voracious readers that we are, we're always checking out reading lists (and no, we aren't in Oprah's book club, even though she does have some good picks now and again). That being said, we were quite thrilled with Style.com's summer reading list -- the list itself is based on fashion, although the books aren't actually about fashion.

(Because you know, if it has to do with fashion at all, it's work for us, so we totally give ourselves a pass to take any of these out to the pool and read for a couple of hours. We're working.)

Behind the Scenes: CFDA fashion photo shoot

Filed under: Style in the News

Unfortunately, you had to be either a super fabulous socialite or a semi-famous movie star to enter the 2008 CFDA Awards ceremony that took place last week. So as you can imagine, our invitations never made it in the mail.

Anyways, the good people at Style.com just added this video to their site that gives us a regular folk a small glimpse at what some of the attendees got to experience in full on Monday night.

The CFDA's commemorative programs are just as important as the dinner table settings. And this year, Diane Von Furstenberg tapped Brazilian supermodel Raquel Zimmerman to exclusively star in the Mikael Janson lensed mini book.

In this clip, watch as Zimmerman transforms from a rugby player to high fashion punk princess.

The Zootsuit Connection

Filed under: Style in the News

Another bright summer day. And another must-watch Style.com video.

Today's mini feature stars the former showgirl and burlesque queen turned vintage shopper Ruth Lewis and the owners of the Las Vegas store Valentino's Zootsuit Connection, where the seventy-one year old retro glamor babe stocks ups on hippie maxi dresses, polka dot tops, and sexy sequined ensembles.

If there is one thing we know about Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, it's the fact that she loves herself some Coco Rocha.

Carrie and Mr.Big takeover Vogue

It has finally arrived. Well, sort of. The hotly-anticipated Sex and the City feature film hits theaters on May 30th.

And Vogue has tapped the flick's stars, Sara Jessica Parker (Carrie) and Chis North (Mr.Big), to front their June issue. The accompanying editorial with the two is called "Rebel Romance," and features the on-screen lovers in various locations getting intimate -- while wearing the chicest outfits, of course.

Style.com just added this video of the shoot, which was photographed by Annie Lebowitz over a period of three days back in March. There is also a sneak peak of a scene from the movie that depicts Carrie striking a pose for a fictional age issue of Vogue.

We. Can.Not. Wait!

Feathered fashions will have you flying

Filed under: Runway Trends, Accessories, Clothing, Dresses

Feathered fashions style.comFur is out.

Feathers are in.

This Fall, the runways are ready to take flight with all of their feathery looks. Maybe birds are pissing off fashion designers as much as they are pissing me off, because it seems they have decided to take action by plucking those suckers bald and applying their pretty little feathers to your clothes. Whether it is a feathered details in your hair (as seen in Nina Ricci's runway show) or the off -the-shoulder feathery mini dress as pictured here by Ohne Titel; feathers are hot.

Feathered frocks are also not very practical to wear in your everyday life, so if you like the look you are going to have to work it in subtly (and hope your co-workers aren't allergic). Try working in feather details to your headbands or even a small amount of feather trim to the bottom of a dress or top. As this look "takes flight" retailers will find a way to work synthetic feathers into your garments in a way that won't have you looking like Big Bird.

Would you wear open-toed, open-heeled boots?

Balenciaga open toed bootWe have seen open-toed boots mentioned on StyleDash before (in fact I wrote about them twice). I really thought that if I closed my eyes they would just go away. Looks like that trick doesn't work. At all. In fact, the open-toed boot trend has taken it to the next step by opening up the heel too. Let's just show off the two most unsightly parts of the foot, please.

Balenciaga has brought us these boots for fall. They are interesting to say the least, so interesting that I actually have to respect them. Balenciaga has gone so far past what constitutes "normal" in a shoe that these are actually okay with me.

The thing about most open-toed boots is that they just look like boots that had an unfortunate incident. These also look they have been in an "accident" of sorts, but the construction worker style of the shoe makes it much more interesting. The shoes tell a story and it goes a little something like this ...

A Paris Hilton type gets stuck with community service after yet another DUI and has to pick up trash off the side of the 405. Never to be one to look bad in uniform, the trendy little devil has Balenciaga design the fiercest construction boot anyone has ever seen.

Voila! The insane toe-less, heel-less boot is born.
