The annual Uniqlo UT Grand Prix t-shirt contest is underway and the stakes are high. If you choose to accept this mission, and you must, you'll have the chance to get your design sold in Uniqlo's stores as well as a $30,000 cash prize. Not bad, eh? Especially, not after you hear what the eight runner-ups get: $1500 each.

Add editorial star Devon Aoki to the list of models who have clothing lines coming out this year.

In addition to the two films, Devon's also going to be dropping a collection she created with Levi's.

Last month, Leah McSweeney of Married to the Mob dropped a funky Reebok Freestyle Hi covered in bright red kisses.

It was extremely cool, limited-edition, and sold-out in approximately 50 minutes.

Suffice it to say, we don't have a pair in our closet.

Now that China has become a major fashion -- as well as an economic -- force in the world, we think it's time to take a closer look at some of their street wear, starting with these awesome shoes. In addition to the fact that the Feiyue Shaolin sneaker is to the Chinese what the Converse All Star is to us in the States -- Kung Fu masters apparently love these old school canvas and rubber sneakers.

It's true, look it up. These very economical canvas sneakers have been a staple in China since the 20's and are sold all over the internet as Kung Fu accessories. We can't really see how they're particularly suited for martial arts, but we do think they'd make a great pair of summer shoes. We like the retro style, it's like a hybrid of the All Star and the PF Flyer -- which are both classic. The advantage with these babies is that they're way cheaper, and you probably won't run across anybody else who's wearing them.

Whit Honea is a slacker, a borderline degenerate, and a daydream believer. He's also our resident expert on casual chic. If it's comfortable, and not heinous, he's all over it. He's quite charming, really.

With all apologies to K's Choice: It's not a habit, it's cool. We feel alive. If you don't have it you're on the other side. We're not an addict. Maybe that's a lie.

Maybe it is a lie, because after viewing this collection of t-shirts from the U.K.'s respected brand Addict, we're thinking we need a fix.

Here at Styledash, we have a hot, passionate little affair going on with cool and snug graphic tees. And some of our favorite come from Gabriella Davi-Khorasanee -- the founder of women's streetwear label Mama.

Known for her feminine and conscious designs, Gabirella has served up a whimsical line of seven nautical-inspired tees for her spring collection that come equipped with that slight bit of an edge that we've all come to expect and love from Mama. This time, the bite comes in the form of Blondie i.e., Debbie Harry.

In the last interview I saw featuring women's streetwear designer Leah McSweeney of Married to the Mob, the very proud Irish woman and new mother was ranting and raving about her brand being the "first of its kind" for ladies in the streetwear market and something about her "paving the road" for other brands. Blah, blah, blah.

Anyways, I didn't fight her boisterous and rather obnoxious statements because in a way it's kind of true. With that, you would think that her collections following the infamous declaration would be all sorts of awesome, right?

Uh, not so much. Overall, the pieces were pretty decent and wearable. But how many times can one rearrange a pair of lips, three leaf clovers, and the words "hoes" and "tricks" on t-shirts before it becomes unoriginal? No, it's not bad. But if you're going to declare yourself a front-runner in a competitive market, you're going to need to have a much stronger platform.

But there is one gem in Miss McSweeney's spring line:

The Fafi t-shirt.

Fafi, the Parisian graffiti artist who just recently released a limited-edition cosmetics line with MAC, doodled one of her signature Fafinettes equipped with a Hermes Birkin bag, Chanel pumps and a lip tattoo on the tee, which comes in two colors. It's too cute and retails for $40.

Now, If only Fafi could help her pal with the rest of her pieces. Just kidding.

It's only April, and we've already had a couple 80-degree days down here in Texas. Plus, since I take care of my daughter in the afternoons, I can't hole myself inside air conditioned offices and apartments all day like I did last summer. Hence, therefore, and in conclusion, I figured it's about time I found myself some shorts.

Shorts? For real?

For real.

I've been avoiding shorts for years -- namely, because I thought they looked dumb on any guy over the age of 13 who wasn't playing a sport. But recently the laid-back look is calling to me, and it's coming from an unexpected place: "urban" fashion.

I don't have anything against urban fashion -- in fact, I'm not entirely sure what that means. All I know is that it's usually not to my taste, but High Snobriety, one of the best sites on the subject, recently brought two looks to my attention that are exactly how I think the casually fashionable man should be dressing during the blindingly-hot days of summer.

First, the new Madras collection from APC. It's simple, straightforward, but just sophisticated enough to make it an incredibly stylish choice. Notice the way they combine either patterned shorts with solid tops, or vice versa, to keep the outfits fun and summer-ish without being too loud.

And speaking of loud, that brings us to the Comme des Garcons x Fred Perry from Dover Street Market. This is the time of year when you can get away with something bright, colorful and comfortable, and this look is just how to do it right.

So don't fear the heat, dudes. You can now keep cool and look cool all summer long.
