Why aren't you wearing this? Eugenia Kim Chain Link Belt

Every closet needs a classic leather belt, that's for sure. And while a bright, funky, fun belt is a great addition to a lot of outfits, sometimes you need something in between boring and show-stopping. You need something that doesn't distract from your already fabulous outfit, but still shows off your rockin' personality.

That's why we have a bit of a belt crush on this Eugenia Kim Chain Link Belt, available for $187 at shopbop.com. Sure, it's a little pricey, but imagine how much use you'll get out of it. It's got enough interest to liven up a jeans and tee combo, but doesn't have so much going on that it can't be worn with a more vibrant outfit.

Fug Alert: Satin high heel sneakers

ash high heel sneakersWhen I saw these shoes I felt a wave of death come over me. Really, my life (of bad shoes) flashed before my eyes. I saw the beige chunky high heeled sneakers I wore in the sixth grade, good lord those were ugly. Then I had a hideous replay of my history with those Manolo Blahnik knock-off high-top Timberland boots. Yes, I bought them and managed to trick people into thinking they were real for approximately two weeks before retiring them. Believe it or not I really have those shoes hidden away in the depths of my closet. I am really not sure why either, I will never ever wear them again.

Once I snapped out of my death trance, I got to thinking about these shoes by Ash. Why on earth do they exist? There is nothing right about the shoes, they are all wrong. Let's break it down:

Satin ... wrong.

High heel, on a sneaker no less ... wrong.

Freaky pin tuck treatment ... wrong.

If this were school this shoe would get an 'F' but if for some insane reason you like this shoe it can be yours for $130 at ShopBop.

Dress of the Day: Paul and Joe Awa Bow Dress

paul and joe bow dressYou're a lady on the outside, but on the inside you're (almost) a tramp.

Maybe tramp is a little extreme, but with Paul & Joe's Awa Bow Dress, you can be a little of both. The 100% cotton dress is a sweet rose color with a feminine bow detail at the back that expands into "bows" as sleeves. The racy comes in on the backside of the dress with an open, V-scoop.

The dress is available from Shopbop for $341.

ShopBop and Glamour give back with t-shirts

shopbop and glamour magazine malaria no more tee shirtsDon't you love it when you can "look good" and "do good" at the same time? It's not very often that you can find clothing that are both good for charity and aesthetically pleasing. Don't get me wrong, clothing that help people in need are always a good thing, but sometimes we would rather wear those articles to sleep rather than out in public.

Don't lie to yourself. You know it's true.

ShopBop and Glamour Magazine have teamed up to create five limited editions t-shirts that help support the charity Malaria No More. Five hot designers were tasked with designing these "do good" tees: Peter Som, Erin Fetherson, Marchesa, Jovovich-Hawk, and Thakoon.

Each white tee shirt has a unique pen and ink like drawing and will be sold on ShopBop.com for $68. For each Fashion Gives Back tee sold, six bed nets will be donated to women and children in Tanzania through Malaria No More, an organization dedicated to fighting a disease that kills one million children in Africa each year.

Fashion for a good cause is a good thing, so get your shirts while they are still available.

Made in Heaven jeans make Mom jeans look good

Wow. These are probably the ugliest jeans I have ever seen in my life. It's shocking really. What are they? I may not be able to tell you what they are, but I can tell you what they aren't. They aren't fashionable and they aren't flattering.

They are described as "Rome corseted wide leg jeans" by the brand. Made in Heaven. ShopBop, which usually comes up with clever little quips about what they sell came up with this "Denim takes a sleek, dramatic turn."

Yep, it's dramatic alright.

Made in Heaven (the denim brand) didn't even nail their own pathetic little description because these aren't wide leg jeans! Slight flare, oh sure, but wide leg ... are you crazy? They also picked up on the high waist trend and gave that a shot. Of course they failed. Not being able to quit while they aren't ahead, they added a little corseting to the back, because what are jeans without corseting? The back pockets just add insult to injury, as they are causing square butt syndrome.

Icky. If I were given a choice to either wear these or a pair of mom jeans, I might just have to pick the mom jeans because these Made in Heaven jeans are nothing close to heaven for me.

Dress of the Day: T Bags Solid Chain One Strap Dress

t bags solid chain one strap dressI'm a mad sale shopper these days, and while the deep discounts are yet to come on summer clothes, this dress by T Bags is still a good deal at $99, down 50% from $198 at Shopbop.com.

The 100% rayon, asymmetrical dress with braided banding at top hem that transforms into a single strap over one shoulder accessorizes itself with a chain belt that ties in a bow. Falling a modest 38" to just above the knee, it needs nothing more than a pair of dramatically long earrings to sweep your bare shoulders and some hot high heels (not a fan of what's shown on the model, though). The dress comes in two other darker colors, but why would you go with boring black when the royal blue makes you look like a goddess?

Dress of the Day: Catherine Malandrino Circle Emobroidery Blouson Dress

catherine malandrino circle embroidery blouson dressSince it's Friday, I promise that Catherine Malandrino's Circle Embroidery Blouson Dress will be the last fuschia Dress of the Day I post this week.

But there's always next week!

And if the hot pink dresses are as H-O-T as this one, then who's complaining? The washed-silk dress has sexy little spaghetti straps to show off that late summer tan and your fragile little collar bones, a blouson body (because really, did you keep up that bikini-body all summer?) and on-seam pockets at the hip. Circle embroidery at the top and bottom hems are what give the dress its name.

The model in the picture is wearing dove gray pumps, but like I said before, black patent leather strappy sandals are the way I'd go.

Available from Shopbop for $475.

Marc Jacobs makes a mouse look good

Marc by Marc Jacobs Shoes Mouse Flat
Mice are never cute. In fact they are gross, quick little devils that drive perfectly normal women to scream, squeal, and jump on top of chairs. I did manage to find one mouse that is cute and the man responsible is none other than Marc Jacobs.

After the popularity of his last batch of mouse flats (that were always sold out and going for big bucks on ebay), Marc has come back with a new design that is more adorable than ever before. Why? Because they are fully equipped with black and white polka dots that's why! If you aren't that daring you can get them in plain black too.

If you haven't ever worn a pair of Marc Jacobs flats be warned you will never want to take them off. Super comfortable and totally cute the mouse flats will make the perfect addition to any wardrobe and will be quite the conversation starter. Get them for $355 at shopbop.com.

It's not just a t-shirt, it's a work of art!

I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm an all-year-round t-shirt loving kind of girl. And with this week's "Fashion Gives Back", a design/charity movement spearheaded by Glamour magazine and six young, all-female design houses, I have more reason than ever to add to my ever-expanding collection of cute tees.

Jenni Kayne, Rachel Roy, Rodarte, Sari Gueron, Thread Social, and Vena Cava will each produce a special, limited edition design to be screened onto a $68 Splendid tee, with each design signed personally by the designer. The shirts will be sold exclusively at Shopbop.com, and 30% of all proceeds will go to the designers' respective charities.

The short descriptive previews of the tees sound super cute, from Sari Gueron's watercolor owl to Jenni Kayne's rough sketch of a Grecian-gowned woman surrounded by poppies. At the very least, you can be sure your top is one of a very few: each designer will only produce 250 tees.

Dress of the Day: Grace Paisley Hammered Satin Dress

grace paisley hammered satin dressThe dress, friends, is not cheap. Marc Jacobs' Grace Paisley Hammered Satin Dress is $428!

But it is no wonder? The 100% silk satin sleeveless dress features a high rolled neck with pleating at the bust and tie on a scooped back. One-and-a-half inch banding circles the dropped waist before the skirt hits at the lower thigh. The dress even has vertical welt pockets at the hip!

Thankfully, the Grace Paisley Hammered Satin Dress, which comes in Rinsed Out Raisin and Carbon Blue (color shown), is on sale over at ShopBop for $299.60.

Dress of the Day: Marie Marie Pocket Dress

marie marie pocket dressThough this dress is pretty cute on its appearance alone, I have to admit that I am pointing it out today for purely financial reasons. The Pocket Dress by Marie Marie is on sale at Shopbop for $130.50, which is a considerable discount from its original price of $435. That's almost 75% off.

Of course, the cotton and wool strapless dress is pretty cute, which makes the sale price even more attractive. The dress is lined with 100% silk, has boning at bust for shape, and a fitted bottom hem that forms a bubble skirt. The pockets have a 1" band and are ruched, creating even more volume in the skirt area. I love that what is typically taken as a more formal style, strapless, is shown in a casual look with leggings underneath (not that I'd actually wear it in this way).

Dress of the Day: Rachel Roy Jouve

rachel roy jouve sleeveless dressAs if your gorgeous face really needed any help in turning heads when you walk into a room, right? Still, don't let that be a reason for passing up Rachel Roy's Jouve sleeveless dress.

The Jouve dress is made of sparkling khaki silk taffeta, with a sheer tulle detail around the collar. The fabric gathers at the bust to create some flattering "enhancement," and gathers again at the hem. The skirt falls 36", giving you plenty of room to show off those legs, and includes a leather belt to cinch your waist into the teeny tiny diameter that it is.

Don't bother getting brand new shoes; just stick with whatever black stiletto pump you have. Besides, you can't afford new shoes because the dress is $1,980 at ShopBop.

I would wear these Uggs

uggs dunwich bootI know.

I have bashed Uggs harder than the Fugly girls pick on Paris. I've wished them a painful death. I have gasped at the sight of their crotchety crocheted cousin. Uggs. Ugh.

I know.

However, if someone told me that I absolutely had to wear a pair of Uggs or else lose access to the Internet, I would crumble, but only if they were the Dunwich Boot. Uggs' sleek and slightly more sophisticated older sibling is a 16" tall, suede boot with a leather vamp, leather strap and buckle detail at the ankle, rubber (comfort!) sole, and 1" heel. It still has the soft comfort feel that has made Uggs popular, the shearling lining.

The Dunwich Boot is $250 at ShopBop.

Cybershopping is dangerous in more ways than one

shoppingI recently read an article in Wired News that discussed at length our increasingly online culture. The article focused mostly upon how technology has affected dating and other interpersonal relationships, but what I (of course) immediately began thinking about was how the Internet has affected shopping.

I have an almost sickeningly stereotypical storyline. I'm that girl who always loved clothes, had a limited clothing allowance while growing up, went to college with an "emergency" credit card, and singlehandedly bankrolled Arden B and Nordstrom's shoe department for a couple of years. Thankfully, the evil credit card companies have some ethical standards federal regulations and don't can't give astronomical credit limits to 18 year olds, or I would still be paying off those bills.

However, I cannot imagine the damage I could have done had I been given the kind of unlimited access to the information superhighway available to today's consumers. Upon typing "credit card for students" into Google, I get 7,520,000 results in 0.14 seconds. A search for "designer brand online shopping" yields 3,570,000 pages.

Yikes.

Dress of the Day: Grey Ant Mim Wrapdress

grey ant mini wrap dressThe wrap dress is always flattering, with the way it crosses over in the front, creates a slimming V-neck, and drapes around those parts of our figures we'd like to hide, and thanks to Diane von Furstenberg, wrap dresses are also totally chic.

Grey Ant's take on the wrap dress is made with a very soft, knit acrylic and wool blend. The ruching at across the front and at the shoulders make it a little more forgiving in those areas for those of us who have already fallen off the summer fitness wagon, but at a mere 33" long, the hemline hits just above mid-thigh, making it pretty daring. However, with tights and leggings de rigeur for autumn and winter, you'll have no problem wearing this dress out in comfortable style.

The Grey Ant Mim Wrapdress is $330 at Shopbop.
