Dress of the Day: Tommy Bahama Blue Coral Dress
Filed under: Clothing, Dresses, Must Haves
Never in a million years did we think we would ever wear something from Tommy Bahama, a brand that we have historically associated with 55 year old wealthy retired men in Orange County whose favorite past time is deep sea fishing (don't ask us how we built that image in our heads - we just did). However, the Blue Coral dress, though not completely changing our idea, at least gives us a reason to perhaps try Tommy Bahama. The navy blue halter dress has ivory embroidered embellishments at the high waistline (more like the bottom of the bustline), and the hem falls 31" from the natural neckline. We love the femininity of the full skirt and the embroidery detai that are paired with a little bit of a plunging neckline. We like this dress paired with comfortably cute flats for a Sunday afternoon brunching and shopping with Mom and Dad.
The dress is available from Nordstrom for $198.
We love the look of navy blue and white for Spring, and this year, we're seeing a splash of kelly green added to the color duo all over the place to make for a striking threesome.
If it's Spring, it's definitely time to pull out the quintessential Spring time color palette of nautical navy blue and white. But you don't have to wear a pair of white sailor pants and Gilligan shirt. Tufi Duek's "Beth" dress is made of a navy blue jersey stretch fabric. The satin scoop neckline will let you breathe, and features a very nautical-inspired white rope and grommet detail. Pleating at the bustline and at the back make the dress a comfortable wear for daytime. We'd outfit this dress with a pair of flats, either in a matching navy blue, or patent red for contrast.
Looking to switch up your look for spring? Maybe you want to find something a little less heavy than regular black eyeliner? You're in luck -- according to The Budget Fashionista,
Yep, this week we are sticking with the empire waistline because we're pretty sure that the New Year's Resolution "diet" hasn't quite kicked in yet for you, and there's no reason you have to look a little less than impressive just because your waistline is slow to catch up (or down, as the case may be).
