From Red Carpet to Your Closet: Keira Knightley at the London 'Edge of Love' premiere

Keira Knightley has, on occasion, made some questionable red carpet fashion statements. It goes without saying that her incredibly thin build allows her to wear many styles with ease, but every once in a while she seems to get wrapped up in the whole, "I'm so tiny, I can wear anything" mindset and ends up wearing things that look like they've been thrown away, shredded, thrown away again, and then made into a dress.

The London premiere of Edge of Love was not one of those instances. She looked absolutely amazing in a jewel-toned purple Erdem dress, and we find no reason you can't get a look like this for yourself. Here's how:

Bruce Wayne gets an Armani makeover

Nothing but the best will do for Batman, that's for sure. He's got the Batmobile for Pete's sake, and his alter ego, Bruce Wayne lives in complete luxury. And so, it's only fitting that Bruce (played by Christian Bale) will be sporting Giorgio Armani Hand Made-to-Measure throughout the highly anticipated Batman flick, The Dark Knight.

Also fitting is the fact that Armani will be designing for a superhero, seeing as how last May he chaired the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art's exhibition, Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy. Armani acknowledges that this line is the perfect choice for Batman's less rubber-ensconced side, saying, "As a Giorgio Armani Hand Made-to-Measure client, Bruce Wayne is demonstrating his status as a discriminating and sophisticated connoisseur of fine fashion, while also showing he has individual taste."

Sex and the City, The Movie: The book review

You might be curious as to why the Sex and the City movie needs a book. It's as much about the fashions as it is about the plot, so what's there to read, right? Well, let us tell you -- a lot.

We received a copy of Sex and the City: The Movie from our friends at Harper Collins, who warned us that the book gives away the plot, so to be sure to see the movie first. This was totally true, so consider yourself warned.

Scarlett Johannson misses Cannes because she's a diva

So far Woody Allen's new movie, Vicky Cristina Barcelona, has been a huge success at Cannes. There was a ten minute standing ovation after the film's debut, and critics and fans alike have applauded the film's stars from the moment they stepped on the red carpet.

Well, some of the film's stars, anyway -- Penelope Cruz and Rebecca Hall got to enjoy the praise, but Scarlett Johansson didn't make the trip to Cannes this year because the studio wouldn't accommodate her requests.

Angelina Jolie's having twins and she STILL looks great

The 61st Cannes Film Festival is underway, and a very pregnant Angelina Jolie is on hand to promote her new animated flick, Kung Fu Panda. And, while she didn't give too much away about the film in an interview with co-star Jack Black, another secret was revealed, or, rather, confirmed -- she and Brad Pitt are expecting twins. To Angie's credit, she reacted gracefully to Jack spilling the baby beans -- check out the video here.

But hey, this is a style blog, so let's talk about how she looked (besides being pregnant), shall we?

Lingerie models: Worst Sex and the City look-alikes ever, or better than the real thing?

If Insinuate Lingerie is one of those companies who believes that any press is good press, their strategy is working. The brand sent their lingerie models out into the streets of London dressed as look-alikes from Sex and the City.

From Red Carpet to Your Closet: Christina Ricci at the Speed Racer London premiere

Christini Ricci was once well-known for wearing black as creepy little Wednesday in the Addams Family Values movie. Well, she was back in black recently for the London premiere of her newest flick, Speed Racer, and she was just rocking it.

She pulled off the Jackie O-style dress with aplomb, looking every bit the lady, but looking a little sexy at the same time. This is such an achievable look, and appropriate for everything from lunch with the ladies to a cocktail party to a wedding -- here's how you can rock it like Christina.

Sex and the City ladies photoshopped into their late teens

New Sex and the City promo pictures have just been released, and the ladies don't look a day over 20! We know that the magazine and movie people always seem to want to do some Photoshop, to make their superstars look, well, more superstarish -- because obviously no woman actually looks good as is. Of course, no matter how thin or beautiful, everyone needs to be airbrushed (ahem, total sarcasm). But, this time, the Sex and the City retouchers have taken things over the top.

Must-have accessory for Sex and the City movie: Cutesy Heart Flask

Who better than Patricia Field, stylist for the Sex and the City gals, to give us the perfect accessory for the Sex and the City movie? Well, truth be told, I'm sure there are lots of must-haves. I mean, you can't go without Manolos on your feet and a Carrie Bradshaw-approved bag on your arm, right?

Well, even better, or at least far less expensive, is the Cutesy Heart Flask. At just $26, it's totally affordable, and useful. You could fill it up with, you know, hot chocolate, or soda, or the obvious -- COSMOS -- before hitting the movie theater for the big premiere and feel right at home with Carrie, Miranda, Samantha, and Charlotte.

Although, since we're talking about a feature length movie, you might want to bring two of them since they only hold 6 oz. each. That way, if the movie isn't meeting your expectations, you don't have to worry because you probably won't remember it anyway!

Styles that Stick: Breakfast at Tiffany's

Breakfast at Tiffany's
If there's a style from the movies that is recognizable the world over, it's that from Breakfast at Tiffany's. More than 40 years later, the upswept hair, the black sheath dress, and a strand of pearls is a classic "look" that can never be bad. Don a pair of oversized sunglasses with your evening ensemble, and you're ready to go, Holly.

A cigarette holder and long black gloves might be overdoing it a little, though.

Impeccable dressing might be a danger

mrs x in nanny diaries
You've seen her. She's the one in line two customers in front of you at the grocery store wearing this season's Diane von Furstenberg wrap dress, a matching pair of Manolos, carrying whatever It bag hasn't even hit the stores yet, and hair swept up without a strand out of place. She's one of those women. All-too-perfect, all the time.

Or maybe you haven't seen her because those women wouldn't even do their own grocery shopping anyway.

Either way, whether you've actually witnessed this type of woman, or she exists in your imagination, you're making fun of her, because these days, according to a story in the Washington Post prompted by the movie "Nanny Diaries," being too perfectly dressed is "seen as shorthand for self-absorption, vapidness and thoughtlessness."

What do you think? Is being perfectly polished something fearless, or now faux pas?

Charlotte's Web clothes for grown-ups

Yesterday, Oprah Winfrey had the cast of the new live action version of Charlotte's Web on her show. Winfrey and stars such as Julia Roberts and Cedric the Entertainer play the voices of some of the animals in the movie. At the end of the show they had a model wearing this outfit, part of a line of clothing that ties in with the movie. Since this is a children's book I would have expected perhaps a line of cute "dress-like-Charlotte" clothes for girls. Instead, there is a web-themed line for grown-ups.

The set shown here is a cashmere drawstring pants and a cardigan with crystal buttons decorated with a metallic flower print on the front and a web print at back. It might be cute for kids but it is in adult sizes and because it is cashmere sells for a not-so-cozy $300. There is also a Charlotte's Web hoodie. The big spiderweb on the back makes it seem vaguely goth but the Wilber, Gussy the Goose, and Charlotte charms at zipper are childishly cutesy. It sells for $60. You can check out the whole line at Shop Intuition. The only piece I like is the simple white tank with the black web design. Still I question the wisdom of the entire line -- is it meant to be a retro, nostalgia type thing or are there really many adults who are deeply into Charlotte's Web?

Moviestyle: Ghost Dog

Perhaps the most stylish movie of 2000, Jim Jarmusch's Ghost Dog is a strange but sleek mix: one part samurai flick, one part mob movie, one part 'hood film and one part Western.

Played by Forest Whitaker, Ghost Dog is a modern-day samurai working as an assassin for a low-budget mobster. Ghost Dog lives on a rooftop and can be contacted only by pigeons bearing notes. His best friend is a Haitian ice cream salesman who speaks only French (Ghost Dog, in turn, speaks only English). Ghost Dog, though generally quiet and deeply faithful to the samurai code, has an abiding fondness for hip hop ... especially the hip hop of the RZA (who did the film's entire soundtrack).

All of these things make Ghost Dog stylish, yes. But the most stylish part of the movie is its opening: though Ghost Dog doesn't even speak for the first 45 minutes of the film, we watch a pigeon fly through the industrial nightscape to the RZA's beats. Stunning.
