There are belts you keep in your closet that you wear to hold your pants up, and then there are belts you keep in your closet to complete an outfit. Both serve equally important purposes -- some even can do both -- but one is far more fun to shop for.

It's Friday night and you're looking for the perfect outfit. Ever since I lost one of my beloved Marc Jacobs ballet flats I have been on search for a replacement pair of shoes. Not just any replacement pair but an inexpensive replacement pair. I am not a flats girl to begin with, so spending another $250 dollars on flat shoes just isn't in the cards. I headed over to Target to check out the Loeffler Randall line to see what all the buzz was about.

I loved the variety of colors the flats came in: metallic rose gold, metallic gold, black patent, and brown patent. I tried on the black patent pair first because the Marc Jacobs shoe I lost was black. The black patent looked great but the plain color made the cool rosette detail on the toe fall flat, so I put them back. Next up was the gold metallic pair -- now we are cooking with oil! I loved the shape, I loved how the rosette detail on the toe popped, and I loved the comfort (too bad they were flats).

These shoes are going fast, there were hardly any left at Target, so if you like them you had better act fast. The shoes run true to size are cost $29.99

So you weren't quite ready to jump forward into 2008, were you? Take more than a few steps back in time with the Sabrina Dress from ModCloth. The vintage-style dress is made of a thickly woven tweed with a metallic sheen in a palette of shades of gray. The scoop neck is lined with contrasting black grosgrain, and has flattering darts just above the bust. WIth a swing-y coat and a pair of black rubber rain boots, the Sabrina works well for January, and can take you straight into Spring when you switch your shoes to black patent heels with a sweet rounded-toe.

Shiny! Shiny! Shiny!

That's all we want to scream when we see this knit tank dress covered with gold paillettes. The dress, surprisingly enough, is something we found while we were (we must confess) shopping on Victoria's Secret online store. The body of the knit dress is made of merino wool, which presumably justifies wearing it in the winter. We love the gold paillettes, but we doubt we'd go so far as wearing super-shine metallic gold knee-high boots with the dress (on the model in the picture).

Why bother with a putting on a dress and then covering it up with a coat to keep warm when you could do it all in one shot?

It may not be quite as cozy as multiple layers, but Burberry's Metallic Shirtdress takes the classic styling of the trench coat and turns it into a stylish dress. Like a trench coat, the deep dark, metallic ruby red dress features a spread collar, double-breasted button front, yoked button-flaps on chest and back, and a belted waist. The A-line skirt has side gathered-flap pockets. The only thing is that the dress has short, cap sleeves, but isn't that just the perfect way to show off those arms you've been working on all month?

Right now, it's too hot to put on anything but a dress. If I have to wear pants or shorts or anything with a waistband, I feel way too restricted, making me even crankier than I already am in this heat.

Christopher Dean's Wynona Dress is fitted, so it gives shape, but doesn't have any sort of waistband. The metallic gold dress is made of polyester and cotton, and is lined with 100% silk, has an invisible zipper up the back, and features pockets in the front. Pockets!

Was it two years ago when ballet flats got really popular? Something like that. Designers across the globe took the standard shoes of a ballerina and adopted them into a practical fashion that we can wear and enjoy everyday. Thank goodness for that because now woman don't have to teeter around in sky high heels everyday to look cute.

Designer label Hollywould has designed a pair of ballet flats that will take you back to the bar (get it...haha). These ballet flats look strikingly similar to those you wore as a child, along with a tutu and leotard. Hollywould's 'ballerina' flats come in the Spring's hottest metallic shades of mint, rose, gold and silver. For a romantic look pair these girly flats with a white eyelet dress like this one from Betsey Johnson. If it's a more casual look you crave I would recommend a pair of straight leg or skinny jeans in a lighter wash accompanied by tight fitting white tee and a cropped jacket.
