The amazing Joan Holloway (played by Christina Hendricks), with her full-figured fabulousness (one of the male characters lustily declared: "She is just so much woman!"). Or the traditionally skinny (and arguably drop-dead gorgeous) Betsy Draper (portrayed by January Jones)?

Men are spending more on clothes as women spend less

Sales of men's clothing are on the rise, and women's apparel sales are dropping. Big-name department stores from Macy's to Bloomingdale's have noticed the trend, and research shows that despite the rough economy, menswear sales actually rose by .8 percent between May 2007 and 2008, while women spent a whopping 3.5 percent less on their wardrobes during that time.

Of course, everyone has a theory as to why this is. Some point to the influence of TV shows like "Mad Men," which glamorize a dapper, well-suited look. Others say that in a tough economy, guys realize they need to dress better than ever to stand out in the crowd of job seekers. Or it could be that as designers churn out newly slim silhouettes, guys have to update their closets to avoid looking dated.

Book Review: Vintage Knitwear for Modern Knitters

Finding a vintage knit in wearable condition is hard. Moths get to yarn, colors fade, and odors...well, they linger. Not to mention the tiny sizes they wore back then. Still, the draped silhouettes of the 30s, 40s and 50s are irresistible, so we kept pawing through odd racks at the back of vintage shops, hoping for that one lucky find.

We did finally get lucky, but what we found was a book, not a sweater. Vintage Knitwear for Modern Knitters by Lise-Lotte Lystrup is filed with exactly the kind of knit jackets and shrugs that Joan Holloway or Betty Draper would wear on Mad Men.

Brian Batt at Mad Men wrap party - Style Foul!

There's a reason you never hear the phrase "Lovely Man Flower." Bryan Batt, was kind enough to wear Exhibit A to the Mad Men season two wrap party, demonstrating that there's no such thing as a formal aloha floral pant.

Bryan's character Salvatore Romano is an art director with a secret. Here he's making no secret of his bad judgment. As much as we love a black and white pattern, it works better on a tie. Or curtains, which kind of makes sense when you learn that Bryan is also a interior designer. Maybe he just saw them in the window and had to have them.

Look, at this point we're just grateful he didn't buy the matching jacket. Thank you for small favors, Bryan!

Tocca candles. No, wait, dresses?

Tocca candles are well known and loved, especially Stella, the irresistible blood orange flavor. But did you realize the brand also sells two clothing lines -- RTW for women, and Bambini for children? They have a very Anthropologie vibe, with natural fibers and pretty, precise details.

The clothes are mainly dresses, which mostly remind us of an updated Mad Men wardrobe. And even though there are fewer than 30 items from which to choose, there is surprisingly good variety, with style for almost every shape.

Oh, and they're pricey, putting them category of casual/dressy party outfit you wear to a daytime time wedding where you're going to see an ex-boyfriend and his new fiancé.
