InCase keeps your computer safe, just in case

InCaseAs bloggers, we know it's important to keep our laptops safe. As stylish bloggers, we know it's important to keep our laptops safe in the coolest way possible. The Gelaskin has been an interesting and visually pleasing way to dress up a laptop, but it doesn't offer much protection apart from light scratching and scraping. Some other items, like the Speck shell, have sparked complaints online, after consumers found their anti-scratching cases to be the main culprits in scratching up their covers. Here comes InCase to the rescue!

CoolComputerBags.com pretty much sums it up

The site is CoolComputerBags.com and the products are a variety of computer bags that are cool. See how that works? It's clever.

The company was started by a husband and wife team "with a simple idea: Find a niche and fill it!" The niche they found was accessorizing "today's mobile lifestyle." Here's what they are filling it with:

Insanely Great Tees for Mac lovers

Whit Honea is a slacker, a borderline degenerate, and a daydream believer. He's also our resident expert on casual chic. If it's comfortable, and not heinous, he's all over it. He's quite charming, really.

We know that not everyone can be a Mac. Someone has to be using a PC for Mac users to maintain their sense of superiority. Those Mac commercials aren't nearly as funny without someone to poke fun of.

Dentaburst, when brushing your teeth is just too hard.

Hmmm. Put this in my mouth you say? We got sent these free samples from Dentaburst. What? A tooth-brushing alternative? I gave the mint flavor a whirl and recorded the experience with my handy MacBook Photo Booth.

Laptop cases go camo

There's a picture of the new laptop case from Maharishi on this page, but you probably can't see it. Hell, I'm not even sure where it is. I hope I don't type over it.

See what I'm doing? I'm having a bit of fun, because the case is camo. That's camouflage for the abbreviation impaired.

Maharishi puts out some quality products and this one is no different. Of course it looks cool with its military inspired print and style, but it provides a nice layer of protection and some storage space as well. After all, what's the point of having a laptop computer, especially a sweet Mac like the one pictured, if you never take it anywhere? And if you are going out in public you have got to look good. We understand each other, right?

The bag fits a 15" laptop and is available for $70 at Standard.

iPhone: How do I love Thee?

On Christmas morning there was one gift left. It was for me. I was a bit surprised as I had already been sufficiently spoiled by all in attendance. I opened the box and looked inside. An iPhone was resting there, gentle and content. Oh, how my heart skipped. I jumped up, still in my pajamas and announced to the 9 family members around me that I would be back momentarily. I had an iPhone and I loved it so much that I just had to be alone.

Actually, what I really said was, "I'm going to take this behind the middle school and get it pregnant." Yes, I stole that line from Tracy Morgan, but damn, I really loved it.

I still do.

The iPhone is sleek and stylish. It is compact and powerful. It is a laptop in your pocket. I'm writing this post on it right now. In a park. That is what the kids call a tax write-off. I'm also using it to listen to Seu Jorge on the built in iPod. When I'm done here I might watch a movie. I rented some flicks off of iTunes and I purchased Season 1 of MTV's classic sketch comedy show "The State."

I won't. I don't want to show off, plus I have kids to play with. I promised them Daddy would be "it" as soon as I was done writing this love letter. Yes, that's exactly what it is.

Now excuse me, I have a phone call.

Breaking out? Could be your make-up

MAC Studio FixSharing time! I've got something good here that will hopefully help a few of you out there.

For the past few months, my skin has been going absolutely berserk. I noticed that my normally clear skin was breaking out a lot more than usual, but I couldn't pin-point the reason. Usually, the only reason why I use foundation is because my skin tone is slightly uneven, but after the break-outs, I would wear more in a desperate attempt to cover up. MAC's Studio Fix generally did the trick. Unfortunately, my skin kept going insane and I kept putting on the Studio Fix. Now, I believe that the foundation was what caused me to break out in the first place, which is actually kind of funny to think about now that I'm not freaking out about it.

It's Balloonacy

Like bright colors, really bright colors? Then you might want to get in line for the latest MAC limited edition collection, Ballonacy. We're talking vivid smoky eyes in purples, grays and blues combined with shiny, fluffy pink lips and cheeks. The nail polishes are dark (Nocturnelle and a lethal purple called Vin Goth). Seems like this makeup will work perfectly with all the bright and shiny looks we are seeing this spring. You can see pics of the makeup on Imheartscore's Flickr. The Viz-a-Violet pigment is total candy for purple lovers.

MAC 2007: the cute and the sexy

You thought that Smashbox makeup was cutesy? Get ready for MAC Loves Barbie , a whole collection devoted to the iconic Mattel doll. The products are for adults but as you might guess, there's a whole lot of pink going on here. The colors are for those looking vivid doll-like colors. There is even a fuschia lipglass called Malibu Barbie. Thankfully there's no frosty blue eyeshadow like the kind on the Barbie I used to own. The collection launches in February.

If you are perhaps looking for something a bit more grown-up, MAC's latest beauty icon is Raquel Welch and her themed collection launches later this month. The collection has a tiger print design and the colors are tawny and sultry, a nice break from the pastel pink cute overload I have been seeing in so many spring makeup forecasts. So whether you aspire to the cute or the sexy, MAC's got you covered.

Yellow eyeshadow: hot or not?

I was flipping through January's Vogue, the one with Angelina Jolie on the cover, and the "Command Attention" accessories spread caught my eye. The model's brilliant blue eyes are crowned by a particularly arresting shade of yellow eyeshadow. The color, MAC's Chrome Yellow, is worn with a pale cheek and lip and with Nars' brackish green Zulu nail polish for a look that is somewhere between 1960s mod and 1980s vivid excess.

As someone who once decked herself with a vivid swipe of sparkling emerald green eyeshadow (hey, it was the 1980s) I'm no one to judge, so tell me in the comments if this is a fashion try or a fashion pass-by.

Happy holid-eyes

navy eyelinerBy now, you've (hopefully) got your dress steamed of wrinkles, shoes polished, jewelry matched, and handbag outfitted for the holiday parties that have been and still are happening. And even if the holiday parties have already happened, you've still got New Year's.

However, have you done anything about your makeup? The same look you've been doing all fall is fine, if you're going to get coffee with a girlfriend, but you've got to step it up for a holiday party. InStyle suggests you change it up with navy eyeliner. At first, I was skeptical. I've used nothing but black eyeliner and dark shadows to create a smoky look all my life, but the look of navy, especially with plum and bronze shadows, is stunning on Thandie Newton (then again, she probably looks great without any makeup on, too). InStyle used MAC's eyelining pencil in Prussian, which run about $14, but if you don't want to invest that much on something you might not like, try Rimmel's Kohl eyeliner in Denim Blue, which is only $3.19 at drugstore.com

The perfect "true red" lipstick

Most red lipsticks are divided by undertones -- either warm or cool. Warm reds have a pink undertone, while cool reds have a blue base. But if you aren't sure whether a warm or a cool red would work on you, there is a third option out there: the true red lipstick. MAC's Russian Red lipstick is the perfect "true red" color. Since the product sells for a reasonable $14, you won't feel like you're just throwing away your money on a one season-pony.

MAC Holiday Formal Black

Over at MAC their holiday makeup comes in elegant Formal Black ensembles that are the cosmetic equivalent of the little black dress. Each one has a a different look: there are pleats, lace, fishnet, faux fur and eyelet details on the palette compacts and the satin clutches which hold brushes or lipsticks and glosses. Prices range from $32 to $217 for a lack satin brush roll with eight brushes. Unfortunately you can't mix and match the palette exteriors and interiors.

Why I love MAC make-up

I first starting using MAC cosmetics when I was 16. That year, I attended a nerd camp at prominent southern university wherein my roommate was a really prissy rich girl named Sarah from Charlotte, North Carolina. (Charlotte, for those of you who don't know is big banking territory; it has NASCAR as well, but Sarah was from the banking set.) During the three weeks we shared a room, Sarah managed to be belittle absolutely everything I owned, from my shoes to my hair to my taste in music to what I had named my calico cat when I was four.

The only thing about me she didn't completely gauche or cheap was my make-up -- a foundation compact from the MAC counter at the local mall.

When she saw the sleek black compact on my desk, she mumbled in her tinny voice, "Oh, MAC make-up is pretty good." Then and there, I decided that if MAC was good enough for that stuck-up twit from Charlotte, it was good enough for me.
