Make a style statement with your laptop bag

We are SO over the basic, black laptop bag. With as much time as we spend picking out our clothes, shoes, jewelry, and purses, it just doesn't suit us to settle for a boring bag of any sort, especially when it's something that carries one of our most treasured possessions!

InCase keeps your computer safe, just in case

InCaseAs bloggers, we know it's important to keep our laptops safe. As stylish bloggers, we know it's important to keep our laptops safe in the coolest way possible. The Gelaskin has been an interesting and visually pleasing way to dress up a laptop, but it doesn't offer much protection apart from light scratching and scraping. Some other items, like the Speck shell, have sparked complaints online, after consumers found their anti-scratching cases to be the main culprits in scratching up their covers. Here comes InCase to the rescue!

Laptop cases go camo

There's a picture of the new laptop case from Maharishi on this page, but you probably can't see it. Hell, I'm not even sure where it is. I hope I don't type over it.

See what I'm doing? I'm having a bit of fun, because the case is camo. That's camouflage for the abbreviation impaired.

Maharishi puts out some quality products and this one is no different. Of course it looks cool with its military inspired print and style, but it provides a nice layer of protection and some storage space as well. After all, what's the point of having a laptop computer, especially a sweet Mac like the one pictured, if you never take it anywhere? And if you are going out in public you have got to look good. We understand each other, right?

The bag fits a 15" laptop and is available for $70 at Standard.

Grab bag: The Interpretor

It's not a purse. It's not an English carry-all (as far as I know). It is the latest in great bag design for men, and Malcolm Fontier is in the middle of it. So to speak.

The Interpretor is just one in a line of sturdy, fashionable, and masculine bags offered by Malcolm Fontier. Officially, the bags are unisex, but let's face it, women have plenty of bags to choose from whereas men are usually left to pick between paper or plastic.

The Interpretor comes in white or brown and retails at $215. It is covered inside and out with pockets and compartments, allowing room for a lot of stuff, including electronics and a 12" laptop.

The design fits well within the Malcolm Fontier mission statement, and aims for the market between "the buttoned-up, khaki-clad clones and the bling-bling divas." It is for people "that believe adventure and style go hand-in-hand."

From the website: We don't just do it- we do it UP. For us off-the-beaten-path urban adventurers, we have created a line of accessories that have the function AND the looks that will make even our gay friends proud. Our designs are ready for whatever's on the roadmap, and especially for what's not. Just pack it up and go...and make sure to go in style. See the world, meet the people, taste the culture, and live the life.

They refer to their products as "Gwen Stefani-Gandhi hybrid" that "strives to embody style and attitude, yet reflect purpose and subtlety rather than trend." Of course, claiming not to be trendy is exactly what makes it fashionable. It's complicated.

Forget workstations, it's all about the Space Station

We know that laptops are a fashion statement all their own, just think about the Mac vs. PC ads. For those of us that stare at a laptop all day long -- ahem -- improving our workspace is nothing short of a style revolution.

Whether you're typing on 7 year-old IBM Thinkpad, or one of those fugly hot pink Dells, your office's feng shui can be elevated with an upgrade to the Bluelounge Space Station.

Managing your tangled mess of adapters and printer cables is a pain -- I've been using zip-ties and it doesn't look all that great. This little docking station allows you to route you cables however you want. The Space Station also raises the back of your laptop for better typing posture. It's even got a page holder -- how thoughtful.

Giles Deacon does laptops

Giles Deacon, a designer we most recently covered for his unique handbags, is now lending his talents to laptop design. He has created a new print for Intel laptops. His tribal-inspired print comes in both pink and blue, male and female design on the Asus notebooks. Not sure if these are coming to the U.S., they are going on sale at Selfridges in the U.K. in July. Only 150 of each design will be produced and they will be numbered. I love designer laptops but the pink and the tribal design isn't my style, perhaps it is cuter in person.

Now even your laptop can be stylish

You keep up with trends, buy nice-looking clothes, and have a great sense for interior decorating -- but, no matter how stylish the rest of your life is, your computer still looks like a plastic piece of sci-fi, techno gadgetry. Sound familiar?

Admittedly, some of us like the fact that our computer looks like a gadget -- because that's what it is -- but others want something with more glitz and glam. Enter the Hello Kitty laptop.

The new pink, glittery computer went on sale in Japan on Wednesday, in an attempt by NEC Corp to target working women. Currently -- at least in Japan -- "PC users tend to be men," but the company believes that this product might turn the tide.

Women = pink + glitter + Hello Kitty? Seems a tad stereotypical to me, but, according to its manufacturer, sales are already off to a good start.

Currently the product is only available in Japan, although, you can bet if it sells well that we'll be seeing an American version in the near future.

Prada makes a laptop

prada pink leather laptopSeriously, this might just be the craziest laptop I've seen yet. Granted, I've seen very very very expensive laptops, often branded with race cars like the Acer Ferrari, or covered with crystal bling, but this laptop is the limited edition Prada laptop.

No, it' s not just a laptop with a Prada logo slapped onto it. This baby is made of pink leather, has it's own matching case, and comes with a matching pink mouse. Of course, it isn't cheap. In addition to its cost fo $2,500, the company that makes it, ASUS, is only producing 50 of them. "Limited edition?" Clearly.

Red is the ticket

Yesterday, I learned that those signs posted above intersections that exclaim "Photo-Enforced" aren't just a joke. And in honor of receiving this mailed-to-your-door citation, we're going to celebrate the color red (which means STOP!). Yes, red can be quite the "Hey, look at me!" color, but with proper taste, it can be worn (and accessorized) with success.

Here's a few ways to porte le rouge and look darn good. This cashmere crewneck sweater from Polo, which, I admit, is beyond the typical budget. But hey, it's slick. (And they say it's "saffron heather," not red. The color is very similar to that red light that I ran, however). And this old-school English tie from J. Crew sure is red, yet still classy.

And finally, this Ferrari-branded laptop computer. It's not completely red, but the mere mention of Ferrari screams red. (Somehow I don't think I've learned my lesson.)

So watch out for those intersection cameras. They even send you a picture of you driving through the intersection, so hopefully you'll now know to be wearing red.

Laptop so powerful and exotic it's a Lamborghini

No, it's not a new high-powered supercar, but the Asus Lamborghini-VX1 will still turn some, albeit geeky, heads. Scheduled to debut in Monterey, California at the 2006 Concorso Italiano "Celebration of Italian Style" on August 18th, the laptop produced by Asus Computer International is borrowing the Lambo name to gain a little mileage out of its newest high-end notebook. The laptop will be unveiled at a press conference at Lamborghini's tent and will be featured at both the Asus and Lambo stands throughout the event.

Borrowing some processing power from Intel as well as the NVIDIA GeForceGo 7400VX Special Edition graphics engine makes the notebook one of the most powerful out there, befitting of something wearing the infamous bull logo. Until we take a "road test", however, we can't say for sure, but we'd look forward to the small, lightweight design and ample power, if we planned to buy one.

Ferrari notebook offers F1 technology, Ferrari style

Ferrari is the epitome of the exotic car. It's best known for its high-performing, exotic-looking, ass-kicking supercars -- descriptions Acer is hoping will carry over along with the brand name adorning its new notebooks. The leading notebook producer for EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) and sponsor of racing team Scuderia Ferrari have introduced the new Ferrari 5000 and Ferrari 1000 series, two notebooks incorporating the technology usually only found in the world of Formula One racing. A carbon fiber casing encloses an AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile processor and comes with several options, including a web cam, HD-DVD drive, Acer VoIP Bluetooth phone connectivity, and more. And, most importantly, the laptops are available in black and "Ferrari red."
