Beyonce shows the pimp-tacular side of kindergarten

We're dying to know who, upon seeing the new ads for the House of Dereon's clothing line for little girls, has any desire to buy these clothes for their daughters. Beyonce and her mother, Tina Knowles, are the brains behind the collection, so we suppose it's not a huge surprise that the inventors of bootyliciousness would come up with kids' clothes that are a little edgy, but these ads are just ... well, take a look through the gallery and decide for yourself!

To be fair, the clothing itself isn't all that bad. Not good, either, but not quite as "Go on, baby, and earn your lunch money the old fashioned way" as the ads make them appear. But seriously, who's going to want their daughter associated with the clothing in these ads? You know, besides Mrs. Knowles ...

T-Shirt of the day: Twelve Bar

Whit Honea is a slacker, a borderline degenerate, and a daydream believer. He's also our resident expert on casual chic. If it's comfortable, and not heinous, he's all over it. He's quite charming, really.

Twelve Bar makes a lot more than t-shirts, and any of their products could easily grace the pages of Styledash in the future, but as this is the coveted "T-Shirt of the day" spot we thought it only right to stick to said tees. We're a stickler for the rules.

Have slips been replaced by Spanx?

Gallery: Slips (in case you weren't sure they still existed)

How many of you own a slip? We're not talking about a slip dress -- we mean a real, actual slip that is worn under a dress, and, theoretically, not seen at all. Now, if you own one, do you wear it?

This question was asked over at Friday Style, and the answers were interesting. Not surprisingly, there seems to be a generation gap -- apparently some grandmothers were simply aghast that their little ones weren't wearing slips with their dresses this Easter, while the younger set was amazed that anyone still wore slips.

Do you still wear a slip under your dress?

Smart is the new black

Thank you, thank you, thank you, fashiontribes.com, for giving me my favorite line of the week the month all of 2008 -- smart is the new black. I've long held the opinion that smart girls are sexy, but at times my orations on why Jane Austen heroines (like Elizabeth Bennett) are sexy because they're smart and witty and able to hold their own have been cut short by ditzy girls who forgot to wear a bra.

While we smart girls would ideally like to show off our big, sexy brains in a debate, there is a more subtle approach -- funky eyeglasses. If your SAT scores were low, they won't help you get into the right school, but if you can get a foot in the door, they'll certainly help you look the part.

Just be sure you don't opt for some boring wire frames -- think of glasses as just another accessory, and then make a statement with them. Check out the gallery for some of the hottest new styles from Lenscrafters.

Girls biologically pre-disposed to pink

Girls love pink because of evolution? As the father of a daughter, I've always fought the notion that little girls had to wear pink. Every time my family asked about the kinds of clothes she needed, I told them to "buy, yellow, green, purple, anything -- anything but pink!"

But in spite of it all, my daughter loves the very color I'd been hoping she would avoid. In fact, as soon as she learned how to talk, she proudly declared it was her favorite.

According to a recent study, there was nothing I could do about it. Scientists say that, based on the way humans have evolved, girls prefer pink and boys prefer blue and that's all there is to it. Says one researcher: "There are biological reasons for [women] liking reddish things."

So ladies, next time you're choosing between a cute new pink dress and one of another color, ask yourself: "Do I really prefer the pink one, or is this just my biological pre-disposition talking?"
