As a high-profile clothing designer, you know that PETA's going to come at you with all they've got if you like to showcase fur in your collections, whether or not you've given any indication that you support animal rights. But, if you really want to make PETA angry, do what Giorgio Armani did. After reporting that PETA had convinced him to drop fur from his collections in an interview with Time last year -- he apparently had a little change of heart.

Instead of ditching fur in his designs, his fall lineup is covered up with the stuff. Chock full of fur coats, fur-hemmed skirts, and even fur coats for children (an unforgivable sin in the eyes of fur-haters) -- it's almost like Giorgio's latest designs were meant to publicly snub PETA . Ouch!

Now, according to the NYP, hardcore PETA groupies like Pamela Anderson are planning a serious counterattack against the perceived betrayal. Word has it that PETA devotees will put celebs that attend Armani shows "in the hot seat" as part of an attempt shun the superstar designer and his fur-loving fashions.

Out of all the Hollywood hotshots who have taken a shot at being a clothing designer, we wouldn't have expected Julia Roberts to jump on the bandwagon. However, she is trying her hand at designing, albeit for a good cause. The pretty woman is designing a t-shirt for Giorgio Armani's (RED) label.

The shirt will raise money for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, an organization started in 2006 by Bono and Bobby Shriver. The charity has already gotten over $110 million from (RED) apparel and events.

There is no other way around it. We heart Camilla Belle. She just seems like a sunny, au naturale Brazilian babe but with the most style, oh maybe, ever.

But our favorite part of this Annie Hall inspired ensemble besides Camilla herself? It's gotta be the high-waisted Giorgio Armani pants. They look like comfy sweatpants, only they are structured trousers. Tomato, tamato.

Celebrity spokesmodels have long been used to help stores and brands gain recognition and fans. Normally, the celebrities are people we want to emulate, like Kate Moss or Angelina Jolie. However, British department store Harvey Nichols is trying a slightly different type of model -- specifically, the claymation duo Wallace and Gromit.

Katie Holmes is not in rolled up jeans. We repeat, Katie Holmes has ditched her manly jeans.

The movie "Tropic Thunder" wasn't the only thing premiering on August 11. Katie Holmes lost the Huck Finn look in favor of an absolutely stunning navy blue satin and leather dress from her own line, Holmes-Yang for Georgio Armani. It was the line's first appearance in public. Now this is the type of stuff she should be wearing!

Italian names may rule the fashion industry, but that doesn't mean that the average joe is some kind of fashion dynamo. According to Giorgio Armani -- he's a shirtless slob. At least, that's what he told the Telegraph about the rampant casualness going on in the Italian fashion centers these days.

The 73 year old Global Fashion Leader thinks that Italy's hold on fashion elegance is slipping as a result of its increasingly lax attitude towards personal appearance. From the article:

"It is time to straighten ourselves out, we are too slovenly... Everything seems to be allowed, even eating and drinking in a church square while stripped to the waist."

Nothing but the best will do for Batman, that's for sure. He's got the Batmobile for Pete's sake, and his alter ego, Bruce Wayne lives in complete luxury. And so, it's only fitting that Bruce (played by Christian Bale) will be sporting Giorgio Armani Hand Made-to-Measure throughout the highly anticipated Batman flick, The Dark Knight.

Also fitting is the fact that Armani will be designing for a superhero, seeing as how last May he chaired the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art's exhibition, Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy. Armani acknowledges that this line is the perfect choice for Batman's less rubber-ensconced side, saying, "As a Giorgio Armani Hand Made-to-Measure client, Bruce Wayne is demonstrating his status as a discriminating and sophisticated connoisseur of fine fashion, while also showing he has individual taste."

While pale, porcelain skin is beautiful, it's hard to ignore the beauty of a bronze glow in the summertime. Who doesn't feel a little bit lovelier with slightly golden, sun-kissed skin? Notice we said slightly -- there's a big difference between being a little bit tan and looking like you've spent every day for the last three weeks baking on Miami Beach.

Giorgio Armani is hot stuff in fashion right now. Well, he's always been hot stuff, that's nothing new. So it's no surprise that when it came time to name the first ever FIT Couture Council Award for Global Fashion Leadership, he was an obvious choice.

I doubt these would appeal to the punky ladies of the local roller derby, and they're probably a little bit out of the wait staff's price-range at the neighborhood Sonic. Still, I guess if Marc Jacobs can make a shoe that looks like a doorstop, Giorgio is allowed to make roller skates -- at least these actually perform some kind of function. My only complaint is that they look like a pair of Fisher Price skates I once had -- only less cool.

Shouldn't skates being marketed by a fashion designer look well... fashionable? I think it would be really smart to play off of the classic roller skate look -- but if you're going to make them ugly, you might as well put those wheels in a straight line and call them rollerblades. Maybe drop the price a little too.

In reality, according to WWD, Armani got the cash after he "paid himself a dividend of 100 million euros, or $126 million, and pocketed an additional 175 million euros, or $220.5 million, through a share transaction within his own company."

I'm not entirely sure what that means, except to say that if Giorgio Armani wasn't completely loaded before, he is now. That man is unstoppable.

Only days after learning that Giorgio Armani is going geek chic with some sleek new gadgets for Samsung, today we find out that the world-famous designer is opening a new store -- in the virtual world of Second Life. The new shop will be a replica of Armani's flagship location in Milan, and will be opened by a replica of Armani himself (in the form of an avatar).

Sound like someplace you'd like to shop? You'll have to sign up for Second Life, and create your own virtual character. Residents of the online community can use Linden Dollars (Second Life's currency) to buy Armani outfits for their avatars, or get connected to the fashion maven's new online store if they're interested in purchasing items they can wear in real life (which they'll have to buy with real money).

With all the design wares now available in the Second Life, it won't be long before avatars are more fashionable than their real-life users.

What ever happened to the good old days when designers stuck to designing clothing and accessories? Giorgio Armani has confirmed that he will be creating an Armani branded cell phone for Samsung.

The cell phone, which is about the size of a credit card, will have a large LCD screen and touch-screen functionality that is similar to the iPhone. You would think a phone so tiny couldn't do much, but this phone is fully equipped with a camera, internet browser, and a Bluetooth stereo headset. The phone retails for about $915 US dollars (650 euros).

When Armani was asked why he decided to lend his designing skills to something more "technical" he said (in a statement):

"Today, fashion has expanded to encompass our way of life, not just how we dress, but how we design our home, the hotels we stay in, the car we drive, and the technology we buy. In fact, we make as much of a personal statement with the mobile phones that we carry or the televisions we have in our living rooms as we do with the shoes and bags we wear or the furnishings we choose to place in our homes. These are all lifestyle decisions, where design and performance are the criteria. Samsung has successfully anticipated the growing role for consumer electronics in our lives, while recognizing the importance of self-expression in the development of its products."

Armani's cell phone will be available in European countries in November 2007 and will expand to other markets in 2008.

Like professional football, baseball or basketball players in the US, pro soccer players in the UK can probably afford all the designer suits they want. But instead of leaving the athletes to make their own fashion choices, one team has teamed up Giorgio Armani so the owners can be certain that their players will always look good.

The new formal outfits for Chelsea Football Club's formal functions includes a single-breasted, two-button navy blue crease resistant lightweight wool gabardine suit, with flat-front, straight-legged trousers and a fitted jacket with pronounced "Roman" shoulder line.

Sounds impressive. And, says Armani, it should be: "Today at a club like Chelsea the players are international role models and need to look the part."

Fortunately for fans of both Armani and the world-famous soccer team, the look will also be made available to the public -- though, I imagine it might be just a tad more expensive than a tracksuit in Chelsea colors.

Armani is not a name you'll ever associate with discount clothes and that's just the way Giorgio likes it. At Milan's Salone del Mobile where he showed off his his latest Armani Casa range, Armani held forth to WWD on all things discount. His take on the fast fashion fad is that "H&M is fantastic, but this kind of strategy is depressing because it plays with people's sense of inadequacy, treating customers as schmucks because they need the endorsement of a high-profile person to feel worthy" Ouch. You may not see Armani at H&M but he has thought about doing a low-priced version of his deluxe made-to-measure Casa furniture line for Ikea. Assembly-required Armani? Somehow I don't see it.
