There were some pretty fantastic outfits at this year's Costume Institute Gala at the MET, but not much can top Kate Bosworth's Chanel Haute Couture dress. We loved that she took a chance at this event, because, really -- what better opportunity does one ever have to go all out with a dress? It's a Costume Gala, for Pete's sake, and we think her outfit was totally powerful enough to save the day.

Two weekends ago we wore a new party dress. In the scramble out the door we forgot to do that last minute Any Mistakes? double-check.

We were excited to see event pictures until confronted by the one of ourselves wearing The Wrong Shoes and no earrings. Gack! We had to go find a good picture from another night just to feel calm again.

It got us to thinking, this must be what it's like for celebs, flipping through a magazine and seeing yourself at the back, in the What Not To Wear files. Do they keep a library of past appearances in best dressed spreads, just to stay sane?

We determined that it would be a kindness to combine the good news with the bad, so we were pleased to see that Stylelist is doing just that, in a feature that shows celebs getting it wrong, and then getting it right.

We think Hollywood will approve. Based on personal experience, a spoonful of sugar really does make the medicine go down easier.

Jenna Bush got married this weekend at the Bush family ranch in Crawford, Texas, and we're sure her new husband, Henry Hager, had no regrets as to his choice when he saw her walking down the aisle. Jenna was dressed in an Oscar de la Renta gown that we just loved -- it had a simple silhouette, but an intricate design with embroidered organza and matte beading from the very top to the end of her chapel-length train.

Today's interview is with Candice Gwinn, owner and designer of Trashy Diva, a vintage-inspired line of dresses and separates. What started as a vintage-only clothing store in 1996 has grown into three New Orleans boutique locations, a thriving wholesale business, and a successful e-commerce website. Today the Trashy Diva collection is carried in boutiques around the world, it has been featured in the pages of Elle and Lucky magazines, and has been worn by numerous celebrities.

Leighton Meester might be in a struggle for Queen B status on Gossip Girl, but she was in her element on the red carpet at the MET premiere. We were thrilled to see her go with a bright color, and while some folks find this color slightly reminiscent of Big Bird, we've been in love with it ever since Michelle Williams wore it at the 2006 Oscars.

We tucked away the color purple, along with My Little Pony and mermaids, when we graduated from elementary school.

However, with purple a prominent color on designers' palettes this season (is that too much alliteration for a Sunday morning?), we've been paying closer attention to it and its many shades. We love the Gabby Bubble Dress, which is simply identified as "purple," but is really a lighter lilac in our eyes. The dress with the subtly bubble silhouette comes from House of Spy, the line from former biology student Wendy Wong. The fabric is 70% silk, 30% cotton, and 100% made for late Spring.
