Flashback: Not pink eye, pink eyeshadow

Stylelist has a how to guide for wearing colored eyeliner, which is totally fun, and balances really well with all the brights we're seeing for clothes this season.

Clicking through the looks gave us sweet 80s nostalgia. Purple eyeliner! Sparkly green! Ah, ninth grade! Then we came across a pictures of lip liner and vivid pink blush and had to laugh.

Ground control to Major Tom

For all you David Bowie fans out there, you might be surprised to know that Ziggy Stardust turned 60 earlier this week. Yes, as in 6-0. Kind of hard to believe, isn't it?

So in honor of everyone's favorite glam rocker, I found a couple of David Bowie-inspired wares for the truly devoted fan.

Junk Food sells a men's Bowie t-shirt in a 70s retro style. The heathered blue color and faded print design make this new t-shirt look like you actually bought it during Ford administration.

Liquid Blue sells a Ziggy Stardust
t-shirt that features some of the original artwork from the album cover as well a few extras from The Spiders from Mars. Unfortunately, the shirt only comes in very large sizes, so if you are literally, a very big Bowie fan, this might be the way to go.

My favorite Bowie top, however, has to be the Ziggy Stardust t-shirt that features the Thin White Duke standing in a phone booth, looking totally glam in some crazy turquoise jumpsuit. Perhaps not the most flatteringly cut t-shirt in the world, if you buy the small, it could probably pass as a ladies tee.

Fashion's dubious new black?

As far as I know, David Bowie is the only celebrity who has ever tried to use the Third Reich as a fashion inspiration. Needless to say, when Bowie did it, it was a disaster.

The Hitler-as-muse idea has cropped up again, this time in the fashion industry. Designers Rocky Mazzilli and his mother Louise's latest collection -- Year 0 -- is emblazoned with huge swastikas and other fascist iconography. After being thrown out of a London nightclub for wearing one of his own designs, Mazzilli defended his decision to feature the Nazi symbolism in his clothes, saying "My interpretation of the swastika is of anarchy, rebellion and nonconformism. Isn't that what London's clubs believe in, too?"

Uh, no.

Thom Browne suits raise the cuff

"You're wearing highwaters!" we'd giggle, back when I was a teenager, to boys whose pants showed some ankle. Now, though, showing some ankle is apparently very, very cool.

As David Colman reports in the Style Section of today's New York Times, designer Thom Browne has raised the mark -- quite literally -- with his $3,500 suits. Despite impeccable tailoring, they ride a bit high ... by design. And with clients like David Bowie and George Stephanopolous, Browne has become the it-boy of men's fashion. He's even signed a two-year deal with Brooks Brothers to give the brand a bit more edge.

Browne's line, of course, has going for it than just short man-pants. Check it out here.
