Why aren't you wearing this? Melie Bianco Reversible Tote

There's not much that adds punch to an outfit the way a metallic accessory does -- it's exciting, it's new, it's hot. It just makes us walk with a little more strut in our step. However, we will never completely bail on our good buddy brown. Brown has seen us through more trends than we care to remember, and it feels so comfy and safe.

Dress of the Day: Pima Henley Dress

gap pima henley dressThere's nothing I like more than throwing on something comfortable on Saturday morning and wearing it all weekend until I have to change into work clothes on Monday. Yes, and when I mean "all weekend," I mean wearing it for whatever errands, lunch, outing, events I have over two days.

Normally, an all-weekend outfit is made up of a pair of sweats, a C+C tank, and when I have to go out, a fitted hoodie. However, there are some weekends that require a little more effort. Made of a blend of cotton and stretchy Modal, the Pima Henley Dress is almost as soft and comfortable as a sweats outfit, but is probably slightly better than sweats for meeting a friend for coffee on a Sunday afternoon (but only slightly!). Three-quarter length sleeves won't get in the way of whatever "work" you have to do around the house like blogging, paying bills, or if you have to, doing the previous week's dirty dishes.

The best part of the dress? The all-weekend price of $39.99.

The dress is on sale at Gap.

Shoes of the Day: LAMB Davin Pumps

LAMB Davin pumpsWhile we are particularly fond of high heel pumps with long, narrow, pointy toe because they tend to make our legs longer, every once in a while we do fall for a pair of heels like the Davin pump. From LAMB, the Davin pump is a black glazed leather upper with beige and white detail at the 4" heel and squared-off toe. We particularly like the gold metal accents.

The Davin pumps are available from Revolve Clothing for $275.

Shoes of the Day: Gucci Suede Logo Flats

gucci brown suede logo flatsWhat were you thinking? Did you really say you'd meet your family for a late brunch today?

Yes, Cinderella, you did.

So you're going to have to pound a double dose of Alka Selter, suck it up, and head out. No sense in worrying about getting all dolled up. It is brunch after all, so throw on a comfortable cashmere tunic sweater, leggings, and a pair of flats. We like Gucci's simple brown suede flats with a sweet rounded toe and the Gucci logo as embellishment on the front.

Available from Bluefly for $296.

Dress of the Day: Pleated Neck Mini Dress

pleate neck mini dressSuch a cute, sassy little dress with pleats at the high, round neck, with subtly puffed short sleeves and of-the-moment patch pockets at the hips -- you'd never guess in a hundred years that this dress is from your neighborhood Gap!

Gap's gone for high-style with their Limited Edition European Collection, which consists of inspired by their design studios in Europe. This little shift-y dress in mocha is the flavor of Europe for only $79.99.

Don't just carry a Kooba, wear it

kooba jacket
I'm not going to lie. I am not hugely fond of the handbags by Kooba. Both my sisters have one, and while I love the soft, light leather, for some reason, I find that the design of the bags are not functional for my lifestyle. The bags are relatively shapeless, a little too roomy, and the signature, stitch-reinforced, wide handles always slip of my shoulder. I just don't think I'd realistically carry the hadbag all that often if I owned one.

However, I'd most certainly wear Kooba. I am absolutely head over heels in lust with the Moto Leather Jacket by Kooba pictured in all its soft, supple glory above. The jacket buttons up asymmetrically up one side with three button-tabbed flaps and the bottom hit right at the hip. The kicker feature, of course, is the hood, which is totally not functional because who would wear this gorgeous jacket out in weather that actually requires a hood (rain)?

The jacket is available in both vintage brown and black lambskin from Revolve Clothing for - gasp! - $836.

Dress of the Day: Joie Love Her Madly Dress

joie love her madly dressI don't know how people can get excited about fall clothes when it's going to be hitting 95 degrees in some parts of the city here in LA, but nonetheless, I couldn't stop fawning over this pretty little dress from Joie.

The Love Her Madly Dress is definitely a fall dress with its long sleeves and pecan color. The dress is 100% silk, so yes, even if you could try getting away with it now because of its "natural and breathable" fabric and short hemline, you don't want to put it on in this August heat and "glow" all over it. Sweat stains show through on dark colors. Pick it up, along with a pair of flat-bottom, knee high boots, and wait until late September.

Available from Revolve Clothing for $341.

Dress of the Day: Vivienne Tam Kimono Dress

vivienne tam kimono dressI have to admit, I have been a little unfair in my daily pick of a dress. I have knowingly excluded a certain type of dress, and not just once. I'm not exactly sure what it is about the dress or why I am so exclusive, since I have never even worn one.

But today is the day I let the Kimono Dress into the club. I still won't wear one, but that shouldn't stop anyone else from slipping into the 100% silk brown and tan floral print kimono dress by Vivienne Tam. I think I am okay with this dress because the print is far more subtle than the bright red and pink cherry blossom prints I'm used to seeing. The dress features solid black satin trim on the short sleeves, empire waist, and the deep V-neckline. Perfect for matching black shoes -- I am thinking you should definitely stay away from white tube socks and flipflops on this one.

The Kimono print dress is on sale at Neiman Marcus for $244.

Dress of the Day: Chloe Jacquard Dress

chloe jacquard dressI don't usually point out dresses are well, well, well above my budget because really now -- it hurts me to see such a beautiful thing that I know I can get in a similar style at say...H&M. Nonetheless, the Chloe Jacquard Dress deserves a little attention because it's so unique.

The dress is a shirt dress style in 100% brown and white raw silk that's woven into a jacquard print. The white trim, ivory and gold buttons, and inverted pleats at the bust and waist give it a crisp look, and the beginning of an A-line silhouette with a slight puff make it feminine. You could throw on a pair of brown and white peep-toe spectator style pumps.

Chloe's Jacquard dress is $1,800 at Neiman Marcus,

Dress of the Day: Tiered Dress

juicy couture tiered baby doll in tuckerYep, it's still warm here in southern California, but even if it's a bit chillier wherever you are, Spring is coming, and it's time to start preparing your wardrobe. Juicy Couture's pretty little take on the of-the-moment bohemian look is the Tiered babydoll dress in what they are calling "Tucker" brown.

The dress is 100% cotton with spaghetti straps and supported bust. The empire waist opens up into a full skirt that is tiered (hence, the name) with layers of eyelet and dark brown trim. In the Spring, theis dress will look cute with a pair of flat sandals, but for this transition season, shake up the look with a soft cardigan sweater thrown on over top and a pair of wedge-heel pumps.

The dress in part of Neiman Marcus' Last Call Clearance, $70 (originally $280!).

Dress of the Day: Karoo by Mark Eisen Banded Turtleneck

mark eisen banded turtleneck dressApparently, it's not just the people of LA who are fickle.

It's the weather, too.

Last week, I believe there was a day that was well over 85 degrees. This weekend, I felt like I was living in the North Pole (minus the snow). It's still extremely cold, so I'm totally feeling the 100% cashmere turtleneck sweater dress by Karoo by Mark Eisen. The ¾-length sleeves are loose and wide, giving it a slightly different look from your regular turtleneck sweater, and the large banded hemline lets the dress for a tunic (they really are all the same, aren't they?).

The dress comes in mushroom (shown) and black, for $352 at PinkMascara.com.

Dress of the Day: Catherine Malandrino Pleated Empire Dress

catherine malandrino pleated empire dress in walnutCatherine Malandrino takes two of the season's hottest trends and mashes them up into one gorgeous Pleated Empire Dress: babydoll silhouettes and metallics.

Though the dress is called "walnut," which, I am guessing, refers to the dark brown print and trim in the top, the rest of the dress is really a version of matte gold. The bodice has laser-cut detailing with a deep V-neckline that plunges all the way to the empire waist that's wrapped with a wide shiny sash. The skirt has a box pleat (though you can't tell from looking at the photo). I'd put on a pair of sheer tights with a gold sheen and slip into a pair of sky-high dark brown leather platforms with a pointed toe.

The dress is $501 at Revolve Clothing.

I would wear these Uggs

uggs dunwich bootI know.

I have bashed Uggs harder than the Fugly girls pick on Paris. I've wished them a painful death. I have gasped at the sight of their crotchety crocheted cousin. Uggs. Ugh.

I know.

However, if someone told me that I absolutely had to wear a pair of Uggs or else lose access to the Internet, I would crumble, but only if they were the Dunwich Boot. Uggs' sleek and slightly more sophisticated older sibling is a 16" tall, suede boot with a leather vamp, leather strap and buckle detail at the ankle, rubber (comfort!) sole, and 1" heel. It still has the soft comfort feel that has made Uggs popular, the shearling lining.

The Dunwich Boot is $250 at ShopBop.

Dress of the Day: Norma Kamali Everlast Kangaroo Dress

norma kamali everlast kangaroo terry dressBoing.

Boing.

Boing.

You are mad hopping around town this weekend getting your Holiday Hullaballoo on, which is why Norma Kamali's Everlast Kangaroo Terry Dress is perfect. The dress is basically a very long hooded sweatshirt that is belted at the waist with a fogiving drawstring to give you shape. That way, you won't look like you simply tossed on The Boy's old XL hoodie. It has 3/4-length sleeves, ric-knit cuffs and hem, and falls to about 34". If you're daring enough, go bare legged, but we think leggings are very appropriate in this case.

The dress comes in a light heather grey, but we like the greige better. The coffee stains won't be as obvious.

Available at Nordstrom for $185.
