BT Couture Collection - toilet paper dresses that benefit Breast Cancer Awareness

Filed under: Clothing, Dresses, Style for a Cause

Anyone who's been to a bridal shower has probably made at least one wedding dress or veil out of toilet paper. It's a surprisingly difficult material to work with, but in the hands of professionals, the results can be surprisingly pretty!

Kenley cries on Regis and Kelly

Filed under: Style in the News, Celebrities with Style, Celebrity Fashion Mistakes, Interviews

Kenley Collins of Project RunwayKenley Collins appeared yesterday on Regis and Kelly, along with the rest of the (then) remaining designers on this season's Project Runway.

The clip Regis and Kelly rolled included Kenley saying:

"It's a little annoying that the other three designers hate me"..."It just makes me wanna win this even more, and beat these other designers to the ground."

Shame on you Regis and Kelly! What a faux pas! Rolling that clip with Kenley sitting there in next to those very same designers! Still, she did say it...

Anyway, then she started to cry as Kelly interrogated her. Read on.

Heidi Klum wears square shoulders, so why can't you? Tip of the day!

Filed under: Celebrities with Style, Red Carpet Trends, Style Tip of the Day

We have noted a mini trend of sorts on fashionable ladies like Heidi Klum, Anne Hathaway, and Chloe Sevigny – the square shouldered dress.

Phoenix Fashion Week: Attention Project Runway junkies!

Remember the cute, quirky little Emily Brandle from season 5? The one that was outed in Episode 3? Though the season hasn't even ended (in the television world anyway), Emily has already managed to design a new collection entitled "Smoke and Mirrors" and has scored a top spot in Phoenix Fashion Week.

Founder and organizer Brian Hill says that, "Her (Emily's) experience with "Project Runway" and her outstanding new line make her a perfect participant for this year's collection line up."

So often we find ourselves wondering what happens to these designers. We're so glad Emily has resurfaced and from what we've seen so far, we can't wait to see the rest!

Phoenix Fashion Week: What's up.

Think NYC is the only city with fashion week fetes? Think again! Dozens of cities around the US are putting on their own shows and one of the brightest is right in Phoenix, Arizona.

Nearly 30 designers will showcase their best Holiday 2008 and/or Spring 2009 looks over 4 days from October 1 – 4. To boot there are trunk shows, trade shows, and "Get Discovered" networking so that any newbie can get a fair shake.

Though we are certainly a sucker for clothes, the best of Phoenix Fashion is the huge role that the Susan G. Komen Foundation plays throughout the four day fete. There are plenty of fun events – a Pink the City Mixer and the Perfectly Pink Show at the Royal Palms -- all of which directly benefit the Foundation.

Even project runway alum, Emily Miller will be there showcasing her new collection "Smoke and Mirrors."

Tim Gunn's Guide to Style: Season 2 premieres tonight!

Filed under: Men, Videos, Celebrities with Style, Get the Look

Tonight on Bravo, don't miss the Season 2 premiere of Tim Gunn's Guide to Style! Click above to watch this poor woman get her breasts messed with in the preview.

As we told you, Tim has a new accomplice this season: Ms. Gretta Monahan of Grettacole Spas and Salons and Gretta Luxe Boutiques. Says Tim: "I am absolutely crazy about Gretta and together she and I want every woman to achieve her perfect signature look."

From poorly-dressed divas freaking out to Tim's "essential shopping lists," this season promises to be full of laughs and great, practical style advice.

Project Runway: "This girl does not look young, cool, or hip at all"

Filed under: Style in the News

Oh, snap! The contest is almost over ya'll and everyone is going down swinging. Last night, the designers had to create formal gowns inspired by nature. And lets just say, some of their looks should have never seen the light of day. As you all know, the contestant that was kicked off last night would be the only one out of the group of four who would not go on to show at Bryant Park during New York Fashion Week. The judges asked each one before they made their final decision which other two designers -- along with themselves -- deserved to go.

As you all can imagine, all hell broke loose. In our gallery, check out all of the lows, highs, and losers from last night.

Lindsay Lohan to make a guest appearance on the sixth season of Project Runway

Filed under: Style in the News

Love her, hate her, wanna slap her, no one can knock the hustle of Lindsay Lohan. Not only has she successfully managed to convince some poor fashion souls that they can't go on living a fulfilling life without leopard print ankle tights, but she's also managed to score another spot on prime time television:

Next year, once Project Runway makes its transition from Bravo to Lifetime, the very first guest judge will none other than Lilo. No, we're not kidding. She is rumored to have shot the episode sometime last week.

We're going to reserve our judgments until we see the show. Until then, let's just pray the first challenge has nothing to do with making custom leggings and using copious amounts of self-tanner on the models.

Project Runway Epsiode 11: The designers face the music

Filed under: Style in the News

Can you guys believe it? After struggling to watch ten episodes of Project Runway this season, we finally got something good last night. No. really. This week, the designers ditched their normal impossibly thin mannequins for, drum roll please, themselves!

That's right. In this music themed show down, the designers had to design an outfit for each other based on th genre of music that was assigned to each of them. For example, Leanne had to turn Korto into a blue-blooded country music star and Jerell was forced to makeover that vile creature known as Kenley into a pop diva a la Britney Spears.

Oh, yes. Hilarity, bitchiness, and wild designs ensued immediately afterwards. In our gallery, check out all of the highs lows, and losers from last night.

LL Cool J guest stars on Project Runway tonight

Filed under: Style in the News

It''s about that time, guys. The show will love to Tivo, Project Runway, will soon be coming to close for this season. It's bittersweet because we're dying to know which one of these ungrateful brats will walk away with the grand prize, but we're also reluctant to watch the season finale because this is the very last time Project Runway will be aired on Bravo.

With that said, it strikes us as odd that the reality show would choose none other than the semi-washed up rapper LL Cool J to be one of the final guest judges this season. The only relationship the celebrity has with fashion is his juniors' line with Sears which is, well, boring to say the least.

Anyways, here's a sneak peak at tonight's episode featuring the rapper turned actor turned designer. Enjoy.

Project Runway: "None of us want to design an old lady outfit."

Filed under: Style in the News

Once again, we're back and ready to dish about lasts night's episode of Project Runway. First, though, are you guys still watching this little 'ole show on Bravo anymore? Admittedly, the challenge this week -- designing head-to-toe makeovers for recent college grads -- was probably one of the more interesting this season, and yet, we had to chug two whole Cokes really fast just to keep our ADD in check long enough to soldier through all of the incessant whining that the designers seem to dish out every time they open their mouths.

In our gallery, check out all of the high, lows, and otherwise straight "bitch ass ness" from last night.

Book Review: "Forgotten Fashion: An Illustrated Faux History of Outrageous Trends and Their Untimely Demise"

The publishers of the new book, Forgotten Fashion: An Illustrated Faux History of Outrageous Trends and Their Untimely Demise by Kate Hahn, swear that it is a parody of the fashion world. Just for laughs!

The book describes 28 faux fashions that took the world by storm then faded away, all of them such dead on parodies you'll keep checking to make sure this is a humor, not history, book.

And it is totally funny. But after reading it, we have to admit, the fashion world is so over the top that these humorous essays seem completely plausible!

Jennifer Lopez - the Heidi Klum snub gets bigger

Jennifer Lopez - Healed!

Filed under: Clothing, Celebrities with Style, Celebrity Fashion Mistakes, Style for a Cause

Well, that's a relief! We were terribly worried about Jennifer Lopez and the dreadful "foot injury" that prevented her from guest judging the Project Runway final in New York on September 12th. We know that only the gravest of injuries -- or wild horses -- could keep her away from a fashion event of that magnitude.

Obviously she had the best medical care money and Skeletar Marc Anthony can buy, because she was able to complete the Nautica Malibu Triathlon, along with fellow competitor and shirtless wonder Matthew McConaughey just two days later. Way to recover, Jenny!

It's great that Jennifer raised $127,000 for the Children's Hospital of L.A., but we might have thought twice before double crossing Heidi Klum. Sure, she seems sweet, but you don't get to be the hatchet person on Project Runway by being a wuss.

We recommend Jennifer stay out of dark dressing rooms, and keep her pepper spray handy. Just in case.

Heidi Klum at Christian Siriano

Christian Siriano showed his S/S '09 women's wear to a full house of Project Runway fans. Tim Gunn, Nina Garcia and Hieid Klum (shown below) were all there to lend support.

We asked the fierce one about his beauty look, which included a blue brow and yellow lip. He said, "I'm calling that my lighting bolt, it's a pop of color." The collection itself? Lots of ruffles, strips of fabric pieced together and loads of exuberance. It's a collection that reflects his now infamous personality. Regardless if he's the next, great American designer or not, Siriano has an audience and they'll love what he's got for S/S '09.
