Get fresh yoga pants

Just like with running shoes, yoga togs get worn out, but it's hard to remember to replace them. Take a look at your current yoga wardrobe and see if some of those elastic bands have a little less snap than you remembered, and maybe are just a bit less "fresh" than you would like.

Yes, it's time to jazz up your downward dog by investing in a new pair of yoga pants.

Going grey can be great!

In the 80s, did you have grey jazz shoes? Or are we showing our age? Maybe it's a little fashion nostalgia, but we're kinda into grey again.

This spring grey has been everywhere, from shoes to nails to dresses. We're loving the subtle and sophisticated ways the shade is being used, with creativity far beyond gym shorts and heathered wool sweaters. Grey is showing up in patent leather and organic cotton and everything in between.

When worn right, grey can be incredibly polished and flattering. Of course, some things are still better in color. We draw the line at grey hair -- you'll find us at the salon for regular root touch ups.

Check out the gallery for seven stylish grey selections.

Top 5 ways to green up your wardrobe

By this point we've all heard how important it is to buy eco-friendly products, and that includes fashion. But is it all just hype? Just another marketing gimmick employed by corporate America to try and get us to spend more dollars but feel less guilty about doing it? Many companies have been accused of greenwashing, and it's certainly true that buy buy buy is not the way to help our environment.

No matter what though, people will always want to dress in a way that makes them feel good about the way they look. We shouldn't have to compromise style in our quest to save the planet. Sure, we need to adjust our habits, but that doesn't mean that we'll all end up looking like a bunch of dirty hippies. Here's our list of the top 5 ways to really green up your wardrobe.

Rapanui's eco-chic underwear

A lot of designers take the position that fashion is all about looks and nothing about ethics. That's how we get things like the bacon bra -- where could you possibly find a less eco-friendly piece of underwear? If you're willing to get intimate with the problems that face our planet, you can start by exchanging your old-school undies for some eco-friendly underpants.

Rapanui makes ethical cotton underwear for men and women. They're a bit on the basic side, but simple is beautiful. The breathable, hypo-allergenic cotton is grown on reclaimed commercial farms where Rapanui works to remove all chemical deposits from the previous owners' operations. This soft fabric is not only gentle on you skin, but also on environment -- since it's factories are powered by wind and solar energy. Rapanui also imposes a 5% eco-tax on itself that it puts towards other environmental causes and organizations.

Timberland eco-stompers

Looking for a rugged yet comfortable pair of earth-friendly kicks? It's hard to beat a pair of slip-ons for comfort and ease, but usually I don't think of the as shoes that will last too long. Timberland's Switchfoot Slip-ons are kind of the best of both worlds: they're built like a pair of hiking boots, yet they've got the the comfort and look of some more casual summer shoes. Not to mention, being constructed of recycled PET plastic and certified organic cotton -- they're totally scuppie-friendly.

The eyelets are kind of a nice touch for people who don't want to admit that they're wearing slip-ons. I guess you could put laces on these puppies just for looks? The eyelets do make the shoe look more rugged, but so does everything else about the design.

The thing I really like about these shoes is how they totally play up the recycled look. People will notice and say: 'hey nice shoes,' and you can say 'thanks, they're recycled, cuz I care.' See how that works?

Loomstate gives you organic cool

T-shirts have come along from the National Park souvenir shirts of my youth to the au courant pigment-dyed tops of my adulthood. While many women cite James Perse and C+C California as brand favorites, for me, it doesn't get any better than Loomstate. I first discovered Loomstate tees at pricey boutique here in town, but I've since found them at more affordable prices several places on the web, including the site Azalea Online.

Loomstate tees are cut from super soft organic cotton, which is as sustainable as it is stylish. Of the current collection of Loomstate tops, my favorite is the Sand Piper in Winter Night. Normally, I don't dig nature on my clothes, but there is something eye-catching and exotic about this two-toned design.
