American Idol stylist correction: Mr. Miles couldn't help Ramiele
The fashions on American Idol are as fun as the singing, and in some cases far more entertaining. Case in point, please see Sanjaya's many hair "experiments" and then count how many of his songs are on your iPod.
This past season was no exception, and we issued an impassioned plea to Ramiele Malubay to let Mr. Miles, stylist to the stars, help her "up" her fashion game. Imagine our giddy surprise when the actual Mr. Miles dropped us a line to say that the girls were styled by this season by Blair Levin.
We couldn't find much information about Ms. Levin, but she worked on mafia caper/girl power film Wise Girls, starring Mira Sorvino and Mariah Carey. From the trailer (above) it looks like something we'd love to see, and discuss over drinks with her!
Blair, call us next time you're in SF. We're buying if you're willing to dish!
Roberto Cavalli moonstone ring is over the top fab

Roberto Cavalli is the designer of choice for divas like the Spice Girls, Beyonce, Mariah Carey and Heidi Klum. He inexplicably selected Amy Winehouse to be his latest muse/model.
Remember when he dressed up as Karl Lagerfeld for Halloween? He is Italian and he is bold.

Breaking News! A model wants to be a singer
It's raining fashion campaigns in Hollywood. Practically, every young starlet has their name associated with some major brand: Hayden Panettiere designs bright-colored patent leather totes for Dooney&Bourke; Eva Mendes will be fronting two Calvin Klein campaigns next season; Rachel Bilson is designing a diffusion line with DKNY Jeans; Ashlee Simpson just signed a deal with Wetseal, and Chloë Sevigny, uh, well, who hasn't she collaborated with?

Santana and Mariah Carey in Macy's commercial
After watching this commercial, I'm pretty sure that Macy's has haphazardly discovered a next great marketing scheme, and it would work for just about any product. No, I'm not talking about celebrity endorsements -- but managing to squeeze Mariah Carey, Carlos Santana, Martha Stewart and Donald Trump all into one 30-second spot is pretty impressive. What I mean is having famous guitar players interpret fashion items musically. Just imagine Slash doing YSL's Spring lineup.
I was pretty disappointed when I went to the Carlos by Carlos website and there weren't any sound-bytes where Carlos had interpreted each shoe on electric guitar. Before I buy shoes from Carlos Santana, I want to know what they sound like.

Is it OK to ugly-up for a big role?
Oh, the drama! Mariah Carey, in what can only be described as an unfortunate attempt to reinvent a fledgling career, has taken a part in the upcoming movie, Tennessee. Imagine Mariah's surprise when she got on set and discovered they didn't want her to be her ultra-glamorous self, but rather someone else. You know, like an actor.More specifically, the costume people wanted Mariah to ugly-up with a schnoz and bushy eyebrows. The pop diva immediately called her people, and -- after being advised against the nose and 'brows by whoever she talked to -- refused to alter her appearance.
I'm sure Mariah said no because she thought looking ugly on screen would be bad for her career (or maybe she's just insecure). But does she really think people are too stupid to understand that she's wearing make-up? No one made fun of Nicole Kidman when she wore that enormous nose to play Virginia Wolf -- as a matter of fact, she got an Oscar!
So...am I missing something? Is Mariah being a crazy diva, or are her concerns justified?
Did Mariah Carey get implants or did her chest explode?
Seems Mariah Carey's looking a little...grander than normal. The pop diva was in New York yesterday promoting the release of M, her new perfume. You can see her pictured at right with an usually large bottle of M -- but, at least according to the Internet rumor mill, that's not the only thing that's bigger than normal. So the question is: are those new, or are they merely getting a lift from a heavy-duty push-up bra?
Obviously Mariah is a grown-up, and can expand whatever parts of her body she so desires. But if she had to add a little extra in order to sell the new fragrance, what does that say about how it smells? Is it really so boring that it'll only get attention when placed next to a pair of ample assets?
Diddy vs. Mariah, perfume challenge '07
Who doesn't love a celebrity feud, especially one that is totally pointless? Hip-hop star Diddy (P. Diddy, Puff Daddy ... whatever) is challenging fellow musician Mariah Carey to a perfume challenge. "I send out a challenge...I challenge all of my female counterparts that have fragrances...that my fragrance is better than theirs. I'm a man and I know how women should smell!" – Diddy
Sounds to me like he is challenging every bottle of perfume on the market, not just Mariah. Well, Mariah took it personally (read: needed publicity) and issued the following response:
"I heard about this competition, and I wish Puff all the best with his new fragrance, but I think we're actually appealing to different types of women. M by Mariah Carey is about being unforgettable, not unforgivable. It's not about a ménage à trois or a one night stand, it's for the woman who wants the man to fall in love with her immediately, stay in love, and treat her like royalty." – Mariah
Ah yes, perfume that makes a man fall in love with you – yeah Mariah that is what we are looking for. I think both Diddy and Mariah will fail miserably. I don't want to smell like a rap video and I certainly don't want to smell like a crazy person who can't dress. I will stick to my L.A.M.B perfume by Gwen Stefani. Now that is a fragrance.
Now you can smell like Mariah Carey
Just what you've always wanted! Now you can smell like your favorite pop diva with M, the new fragrance from Mariah Carey.
As an added bonus, she got naked for the ads -- just like she did for that less-than-alluring magazine cover last week. Can this woman not keep her clothes on? Although, it is worth noting that she looks about 20-years-old in this photo, no doubt due to the same magical Photoshop wizards that made Britney Spears look half-way decent in the press photos for her latest fragrance.
I have no idea what the new perfume smells like, and I won't be purchasing it to find out, but according to Elizabeth Arden (the manufacturer), the fragrance "translates the beauty of her musical notes into a fragrance that embodies her warmth, sensuality and glamour."
So if that's your thing, you can buy your own bottle of M here.
Mariah Carey gets naked for a magazine cover -- when will it stop?
Since when did every celebrity who gives an interview for a magazine have to get naked for the cover? And when was the last time anyone wanted to see Mariah Carey without her clothes on? Weren't we over that back in the 90s?We may never have the answers to these pressing questions, but regardless, Mariah Carey is following in the footsteps of Claudia Schiffer, the Beckhams, and Tom and Katie (if the rumors are to be believed), by doing a nudie shoot for a magazine cover.
The only difference is that while Claudia and the Becks posed for big hitters like Vogue and W magazine, Mariah is appearing on the cover of Interview -- which looks
Oh, Mariah. Just let it go.
