Jennifer Aniston spends $20,000 a month on her beauty routine

Next time you feel crappy about yourself because you don't measure up to Hollywood types, remember this: in addition to the hundreds of thousands of dollars a year celebrities spend on clothing, some rack up huge beauty bills -- like Jennifer Aniston, who drops $20,000 a month just to look good.

Now that the former Friends star is engaged to a John Mayer, she's working hard to keep up with the younger competition. Take a look at her biggest budget breakers:
  • Personal training and private yoga instruction: $3,000
  • Private chef who prepares organic, high-protein, low-fat meals: $3,500
  • "Anti-cellulite spa sculpting" treatments: $1,000 per session
Holy crap. That's more than most people spend in a month -- on everything (mortgages, car payments, college tuition, blah blah blah). No wonder Jen looks so great!

Summer folk: Celebs who thrive in the sun and surf

For some of us, summertime is a hot, sweaty nightmare of frizzy hair and shiny makeup collapsing like an ice cream cake in the sun. Between bug bites and sun burns our skin is a wreck, and we suffer from both the heat and the humidity. There is a whole post over on Stylelist about products that can help us survive the terrors of the season. And we need the help.

Meanwhile, there there are the charmed few, summer folk who thrive when the temperature climbs above 80 degrees. Just drop them at a pool, or anywhere there is sand, palm trees and surf. Their toes are always tan and bare, their hair tossled, and their faces sunkissed.

They look healthy, not hot. Casual, not sloppy. As if they just finished a particularly soothing yoga workout, and are about to sit on a warm, breezy deck watching the sun set, sipping something icy, tropical and fruity. In the gallery, their celebrity representatives, looking sexy, relaxed, easy going and enviable.

Trend alert: yoga for your face

Want to do away with some saggy spots and laugh lines on your face, but you don't really like the idea of surgeons rearranging your features or getting injected with toxic chemicals? There's a hot new trend out there that claims to revitalize your droopy face -- without going under the knife. It's called "Face Yoga" and it's all the rage at the NY Health and Racquet Club. Even Hollywood starlets like Gwyneth Paltrow and Jennifer Aniston are reportedly getting in on the action.

The pioneer of Face Yoga here in the US is most definitely Annelise Hagen. She wrote the book on Face Yoga -- I mean that literally, it's called The Yoga Face. Annelise claims that you can get rid of wrinkles and achieve a more youthful complexion by simply making idiotic faces in her yoga classes. For example, she has students do exercises such as holding their eyes wide open to combat crow's feet.

Does it work? Who knows, but it's got to be better than botox. Her book is on sale at Amazon, if you're into that whole reading thing. Rumor has it that reading gives you crow's feet though -- tough call.

The "Rachel" makes room for the "Kate"

It's hard to believe that Kate Moss' greasy, stringy mop would be the one to launch a thousand haircuts, but it has happened.

Dubbed the new "Rachel" (a.k.a. Jennifer Aniston's layered chop from her early Friends days), the "Kate" has sent millions of women flocking to hairdressers to request the model's new 'do: long bangs and long locks.

The Independent in Britain points out that fringe bangs are nothing new. Famous ladies like Anne Hathaway, Mischa Barton, Jessica Alba and Elizabeth Hurley have already trod the full bang path -- Barton and Alba, in fact, have been there and back.

I guess this just goes to show you that a trend isn't a trend until Kate Moss has done it. If you have any doubts about that point, just consider the following other Kate Moss fads: mini-vest, bohemian chic, high-waisted pants and Pete Doherty.

If you think Britney is watching you in the grocery aisle...

She probably is! Girlfriend has been on the cover of 18 -- count 'em -- 18 magazines in the past six months! What does that mean? It means that even though Jennifer Aniston may technically be the top-selling celebrity face, Britney can still sell a ton of magazines.

So I'm wondering, are you more likely to pick up a magazine with Jennifer Aniston or Britney on the cover? I admit, I'm partial to the Brit magazines, not so much because I'm interested in what she's up to, but because I find Jennifer Aniston's shopworn story of heartbreak to be a little boring. I also like smut, so Brit's the natural choice.

Are you on Team Aniston or Team Spears?

Jessica Alba and George Clooney are world's most desirable people

Jessica AlbaNo matter who you ask, Jessica Alba and George Clooney are hot. So hot, in fact, that in addition to being voted Sexiest Man Alive and Sexiest Woman in the World by People and FHM magazines earlier this year, the uber-attractive Hollywood heartthrobs have most recently topped the Yahoo! Personals "Most Desired" list -- ranked by the sites millions of users as the celebrity they'd most like to shack up with.

On the heels of Mr. Clooney were Matthew McConaughey, Kanye West and Andy Roddick -- which all makes sense. But the list was rounded out by Ricky Martin, which makes me think that it wasn't just women who were voting on the male nominations.

Alba, who has been scientifically proven to have the world's most alluring figure, beat out Jennifer Aniston, Queen Latifah, Jessica Simpson, and Maria Sharapova.

So what do you think: are these really the hottest people in Hollywood? Who would you add to the list?

What exactly makes premium denim so premium?

As a store owner, I hear exclamations of both shock and adoration when customers are faced with a table full of $200 jeans -- shock that they are actually $200, and adoration that they are actually $200.

Most consumers are familiar enough with the premium denim craze to expect the high price associated with the jeans. I do, however, get a customer once in a while who (and I can hardly blame them) seem completely offended by the cost. "Who would spend this much on jeans?" they ask. "And what in the world makes them so expensive?"

As in most fashion-related questions, the answer is fit -- fit and fabric, specifically. Premium jeans are almost always created exclusively from Japanese or Italian denim (read: softer, hand-finished washes) and contain at least 2% stretch fibers. The stretch fibers are then specifically positioned in the thighs, hips, and seats of the jeans, allowing for the perfect amount of give where women typically need it most, but preventing unwanted bagginess overall.

It wouldn't be fair to completely ignore the celeb factor when discussing premium denim prices. The fact that Jessica Simpson, Lindsay Lohan, Uma Thurman, and Jennifer Aniston publicly profess their favorite premium denim brands on a regular basis and prance around exhibiting just how cute the jeans can be certainly doesn't hurt the product. If you've seen the item in a magazine, on a celebrity, you can pretty much assume you'll be paying for the privilege to advertise the brand.

The final reason you're paying out the wazoo for your premium denim? In today's society, jeans can be worn anywhere. Going out for dinner and drinks? Pair a dark pair of skinny jeans with some killer heels and a silky little tunic and you're good to go. Grocery store shopping? Throw on your comfiest pair of broken in jeans, the ones that aren't too tight and still make you look like you made an effort. Quick business lunch? Jeans and a blazer look confident and put-together. Consumers are viewing a good pair of jeans as an investment on par with the classic little black dress and a good interview suit. Besides, when you divide the total cost of the jeans by the number of days in a month you're likely to wear them, it doesn't seem so expensive at all.
