Most of us have things about our bodies we'd like to change -- you know, the grass is always greener anywhere but here, right? One of the important things to keep in mind when we're figuring out how to best disguise our least favorite body part is that there are other body parts that we do like, and so instead of just disguising, we want to look at how to draw attention elsewhere.

There were some pretty fantastic outfits at this year's Costume Institute Gala at the MET, but not much can top Kate Bosworth's Chanel Haute Couture dress. We loved that she took a chance at this event, because, really -- what better opportunity does one ever have to go all out with a dress? It's a Costume Gala, for Pete's sake, and we think her outfit was totally powerful enough to save the day.

At first we felt a little, well, superior. After all, we have mad make-up skillz, earned through years of clown faced experiments. And the first item in the gallery was that Sally Hansen nail pen we posted about a month ago. Um, yawn.

But then we were very pleasantly surprised by the rest of the products. Not just easy to use, they are also cool!

Charlize Theron can pull off just about any look. On just about anyone else, her 2006 couture Oscar look would have been comical, but somehow she managed to (mostly) look gorgeous.

After a post on one of the seasons hottest trends -- gladiator sandals -- StyleDash received the following comment:

One of the hardest parts of my morning routine is applying my liquid eyeliner. The right eye usually goes on with no problems, then I get to the left and all hell breaks loose. One line is shorter than the other, or it's too wide, or it's smudged. Whatever it is, it's always just plain wrong. I have gone to cosmetic counters asking for help and I still end up failing. Finally, there is a simple how-to I can work with from Allure.

In Allure's October issue, makeup artist Pat McGrath gives us the low down on how to apply liquid liner.

First things first, buy the good stuff. I happen to know from experience that this step is crucial. When looking for the perfect liquid liner make sure it dries fast (to avoid smudges) and has a nice rich color.

Once you have purchased your perfect liner, it's time to apply. According to McGrath, it's best to trace the upper lashes with an eye pencil. This step helps you achieve the perfect line before you commit to the liquid. After you have placed your line, trace over it with the liquid liner. To keep your hand steady, you may want to rest to you elbow on a table. If you still can't get it right and end up with a hideous smudge, take a cotton swab dipped in moisturizer to remove.

Voila! Your eyes are now beautiful. Remember with a dramatic eye you must keep your lips simple. Just dab on a bit of blush and lip gloss and you are good to go.

A few weeks ago, I found myself in a cute boutique in Washington, D.C.. Naturally, I gravitated to the items that I either couldn't afford or couldn't imagine wearing with the one exception being a jaunty tweed wool cap with velvet buttons and a price tag that was almost too good to be true. It was just $20.

When I put the hat on, I was less certain that it was a must-have. There was something -- probably the buttons -- that just didn't fly atop my head. As I was about to return the hat to shelf, a saleswoman walked up to me, and asked me what I thought of the hat. I told her that while it was great, it didn't quite work on me.

She asked to see it on me, and I obliged (it's easier to salespeople off your back if you do what they ask). So I put the hat on and leaned down so that she could exactly what I meant when I said it didn't work. The saleswoman then asked, "Do you wear hats very often?"

I didn't, so I said, "No." At that point, she told me to take off the hat, and follow her directions.

Her first instruction was to leave the sides of my hair down so that the cap (and my hairdo) still covered my ears. I had to admit, covering my ears was a huge improvement, but it still didn't quite make up for the fact that the hat seemed oddly asymmetrical.

She then she asked me to cock the hat slightly to the right. When I did she approvingly responded, "See, there you are. It looks perfect." And girlfriend was right! With two simple adjustments, the hat I love looked totally smashing -- not just on the shelf, but on me.

Do you know the proper way to apply eye creme? The question seems ridiculous doesn't it?

Well, actually, it's not. The skin around your eye is actually extremely delicate, such that too much manipulation can cause the tissue to break down, which leaves you at risk for self-induced crow's feet. Horrible, isn't it? To protect you from this risk, I thought I would take a few minutes to wax poetic about the proper way to apply eye.

The most important thing to keep in mind with eye creme is to take it slow. I know when it's hard to slow down when you are running late for work and need to apply your makeup, stat, but trust me, it's the best thing for your face. Another thing to know about eye creme is that you should always use your ring finger to apply it. Most people, I find use their second "pointer" finger to apply the salve, but actually it's best to use your fourth finger, since this one has the fewest muscles. A weaker finger reduces your risk of the hateful self-induced crow's feet. Lastly, you should always pat the creme into your skin with a very gentle tap. Do not rub! Dab the creme around the orbital bone until the formula is completely absorbed. Sure, it seems like a hassle, but in the long run, it's worth it. Applying eye creme in the right way makes your makeup look better and it keeps your skin looking youthful.

Thanks to Google and its customizable homepage options, I get a "How-to" of the day each time I open my browser. Today I was lucky enough to bear witness to one of the most obscure and tacky items ever: "How to Make a Bra Purse".

First on my list of WHY?s that came up after I read this: The first tip is that any size bra will work just fine -- except that those with a smaller size can only make a mere change purse, while the other side of the spectrum can probably manage to make an airplane carry-on bag.

The instructions go on with steps of cutting, gluing and decorating.

I understand coming up with new ways to use old clothing or household objects in order to recycle, but reusing an old bra? I can't say that I know too much about purses, but I do know that this is definitely a style foul.
