Celebrity style at Cartier's Third Annual Loveday Celebration

Cartier held their third annual Loveday Celebration at a private residence in L.A. yesterday. The event also celebrated the launch of the Cartier Love Charity Bracelet. As with all celebrity events, here at Styledash we feel it's our duty to analyze what went down on the red carpet.

Tip of the Day: Suit up part 1; Buff

Why do celebrities always look so damn good in their bathing suits? Personal trainers, in-house chefs, and puking aside, they look good because their stylist dresses them every day (damn them). But you don't need a stylist. No, no child; that's what you have us for.

Here are a few tips for the svelte, bootylicious, buff, and lanky among us. This will be broken down into a four part section, so if you don't see your body type today, check back with us tomorrow k?

Fergie creeps out little kids with her leather pants

Only a couple of weeks after we outed rock stars for being lame, Fergie goes on the Today Show and delivers this completely slutty performance -- and totally redeems herself. It's a little bit controversial to say the least, especially on a morning show in front of freaked out little kids. But the leather (latex?) pants looked great and soccer moms nationwide are no doubt furious at her and the network. All is right with the world.

Rock (fashion) is dead

The LA Times published an article the other day about how rock stars are beginning to all look the same, and after a quick survey of many of today's top artists, we have to kind of agree. While we've spent many hours lamenting over how derivative and boring mainstream pop music is these days, we hadn't really taken notice of how conservative rock stars were dressing.

Where's the sex? Where's the wild hair? Where is the leather? Visionaries and rebels are few and far between in today's music scene. Instead of setting the rules for fashion, like many of their predecessors, most of today's music talent look like they're taking their cues from display windows at the mall. From John Mayer to Fergie, most of them look like they're heading to a photo shoot for one catalog or another -- and in a very real way, they are.

Did you know superheros are taking over the Met next month?

Next month, chic men and women of all walks of life will descend upon the Metropolitan Museum of Art in the name of fashion and fabulousity.

This year, the Met has chosen "Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy" as the theme of its annual Spring exhibit.

Co-chaired by Giorgio Armani, George Clooney, Julia Roberts, and Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, the exhibit will feature 70 ensembles inspired by such comic-book characters as Catwoman, Wonder Woman, the X-Men, and many more.

Fergie's line of handbags -- Spring '08

The reviews are in. The Fergie for Kipling line has released it's Spring '08 collection of handbags and they aren't bad at all. I actually didn't know she had her own line, but for some reason it really doesn't surprise me.

The theme of this season seems to be dice. Each zipper has a little tiny figurine with a cute dice pattern. The colors are bold, bright and daring -- just what you would expect of a Fergie line. I think her fans will really love these bags. They show off the Duchess' true style. The handbags are definitely made for a fashionista who doesn't take herself too seriously. Fergie seems like a celeb who has fun with style and it looks like she really had fun designing these bags.

To give you an idea of the price, the Show Off Red Satchel will run you $108. That's not all that bad! Browse through the gallery to check out the bags. If you decide you want to buy one, you can find them over on EBags!

Versace goes over big with Fergie and Megan Fox

The Versace show was a big hit with the celebrities. Fergie, Megan Fox, and of course Patrick Dempsey were all there. Although, Patrick Dempsey had no choice. After all, he is the face of the brand right now.

Last week there were tons of amazing clothes on display in Milan. Versace really turned it on for this collection. The colors were bold and bright. We saw lots of fuchsia, dark purples, midnight blues and lemon yellows. Cocktail dresses had simple silhouettes coming down to mid-calf, many of them working the one shoulder look. For the most part, garments were pattern free, but the few dresses that had patterns, did them in a big way!

For me though, the short coats were the best part of this collection. Forget the little belts that cinched trenches in at the waist from last season. Clearly, Versace wants to accommodate the scores of pregnant Hollywood royalty. These coats were adorable, and better yet, forgiving of any figure.

Fergalicious handbags

Celebrities can't just stick with having one talent can they? Time to update the list of celebrity fashion lines and add Fergie, who has just designed a line of handbags for Kipling. We reported on this back and March and I had hoped we were wrong-- no suck luck.

Apparently it's okay for Fergie to become a designer because to her it's just like putting on a concert. Sure it is Ferg'. "Showing off these bags is like putting on a concert; you put something tangible out there and hope it generates excitement," the singer told Fashion Week Daily.

She didn't design just one bag that either, she designed three distinct categories of bags which are inspired by her personal "looks".

1.) The Nice Scout collection are bags adorned with leather and mesh details. These bags come in a black matte finish or a shimmer finish.

2.) The Naughty Scout collection are embossed hot pink lips with "Fergie loves Kipling" printed across them. Yeah because we all want that on our bags.

3.) The Dutchess collection are bags that are decorated with plaid and tassels.

Fergie has been a fan of Kipling bags for years (she claims) so this partnership is a perfect fit. The launch party had dancers who modeled the bags (that's talent). The line will be available this September in Kipling stores as well as department stores, with prices ranging from $38 to $198.

Fergie sells out even more than she had already

Two disclaimers: 1) I have no problems with musicians (or any artist, for that matter), making money off of their work -- everyone has to eat. 2) Fergie isn't exactly making lo-fi, experimental prog-rock, so the fact that's she's "selling out" isn't all that surprising.

Disclaimers aside, Fergie has just gone from mildly irritating, to completely lame. The singer who has already turned the formerly respectable Black Eyed Peas into a lukewarm boy band, has now broken new ground in pop-music commercialism by accepting £2 million (about $4 million) from Candie's, a clothing brand, to mention their product in her music. She'll also be appearing in Candie's TV advertisements, and allowing the company's "style advisers" to dress fans at her concerts. (And if you've ever seen Candie's clothing, you know just how much that sucks.)

Musicians have been doing this for awhile -- hoping to pick up sponsorship deals after the fact (if their song becomes a hit) -- but this is the first time that a musician has accepted money from a company for the sole purpose of promoting their product.

Oh wait -- what am I saying? This has totally happened before. But it used to be called a commercial.

Fergie's advisers have released statements justifying the move in a desperate attempt to maker her look like a legitimate artist trying to make a little extra cash, but I can't imagine they'll be successful. Plus, how pathetic does this make Candie's look? Other brands are so cool musicians want to sing about them without being asked. Candie's, on the other hand, has to pay for it, and that makes the company seem like the rich kid loser who has to buy all his friends.

Fergie Falls Victim to the High-Waisted Trend

FergieFergie recently appeared on MTV's TRL to promote her new single, 'Big Girls Don't Cry.' It all should have gone very smoothly, but -- oh, dear -- Fergie had to go and break my heart by wearing those ridiculous high-waisted pants. As if the strange length wasn't bad enough, they were a suspender/pant combo (which seems to be a trend for her). No need for the suspenders, Fergie, 'cause pants that high aren't going to fall any time soon.

So what do you all think of this latest celeb trend? I find that it's extremely unflattering on most figures and if Fergie can barely pull it off, what does that mean for the rest of us?

Suspenders: Say it ain't so

E! Online is a website I always forget to check out, but when I do I realize why I don't.

The site's fashion tab is fully equipped with a fashion police section (standard stuff there) and a "trend spy "section. Trend Spy is supposed to have the pulse on the h-o-t fashions that all of the h-o-t celebrities are wearing. Why on earth was Fergie our fashion icon of the week?

Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas does make some catchy tunes, but fashionista she is not. E! Online has highlighted the suspender trend she has allegedly started (and as far as I am concerned she can go on and finish it too). If you want to mimic the look just head to L.A. boutique Shop Intuition and grab a pair. They will set you back $18 which doesn't seem like much; but the humiliation you face will be priceless. If you think you are capable and cool enough to pull off the look (some are) make sure your look is polished- try a pair of loose fitting black trousers, a white tee, and a newsboy cap.

Fergalicious handbags?

These days, you can hardly call yourself a celebrity if you don't have your own clothing/bag/perfume/shoe line. The latest celeb to jump on the creative vanity project bandwagon? Fergie! (neé Stacy Ferguson of Black-Eyed Peas and the Mickey Mouse Club.)

FabSugar reports that Fergie-Ferg just signed a deal with Kipling North American to create two handbag lines. The first of the two collections will roll out in the fall of this year. The second will come out in spring of 2008. At this point, there's no word on what the bags will look like, but Fergie assures us that she will "put all of my heart and creativity into this one."

Presumably this means that each bag will come with its own mini tie and a urine stain on the exterior. (Hehe!)
