It's expensive to look as cheap as Paris Hilton's dog

A new study shows that owners of cute little chihauhaus, like the ones Paris Hilton dresses up in tutus and tiaras, are the most expensive breed to own.
As suspected, it has more to do with the Doggie Mamas and Papas than the dogs themselves. People who select this breed of dog are more likely to buy expensive food, pay for professional grooming, and of course only the best kennels will do for Precious.
The cost of all this fine canine living runs to almost $12,000 a year! That's $173,000 over the average 13 year life of a chihuahua!
We love dogs, and cats, too. It's easy to spoil pets, especially since they are so much nicer than some people we could name.
Yet...somehow it seems like your dog's trust fund would be better spent on a donation to an animal shelter than on more doggie diamonds. And we have a feeling that most dogs would agree. That tiara looks heavy!
Next time you're tempted to buy Mr. Whiskers or Mrs. Fiddlestones something sparkly, click on over to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, or your local shelter, and consider making a matching donation. Doing good, especially for our furry friends, is always in style.

You big softie! Adopting a rescue animal is also a better idea than going to one of those puppy mills or pet shops like Paris or Brit-Brit.
