What's your best secret for thick, shiny hair?
The Stylelist post about hair myths and truths got us thinking about our favorite hair gear. Their expert sort of, um, debunked volumizing shampoos, but we love thickening products. In fact, three of our top five faves are thickening related!
They also said that a blow out is vital for high volume, and this combined dryer/round brush is another big favorite.
Now it's your turn. What are your cherished hair beautifiers? Best products, styling tools, techniques? Don't be shy, come on and share!
We can't wait to hear from you!

When I want to condition my hair which is fine I will use my conditioner first then shampoo as usual. This doesn't seem to weigh my hair down and gives a bit of a shine. I also go up to three days sometime between washes to give my hair a break. Also, Biotin really is good for you nails and hair. It is also water soluble so you really don't worry about taking too much.

I use color enhancing products for my highlights. My deep conditioner is Moroccanoil (yes it's one word) intense hydrating mask. After the shower I towel dry then add a few drops of Moroccanoit Oil Treatment, this gives it a soft but NONGREASY feeling. The oil soaks in and the hair is not greasy like you would think. Then I use CHI TURBO Ionic blowdryer ( NEVER USE ANYTHING BUT AN IONIC BLOWDRYER!!!) and a CHI large round (metal colored bristles not the nylon or brown ones) brush. I clip the top 1/3 of my hair up on top of my head and blow dry in 2 inch sections with the brush tilted toward my face. Blow dry the section SLOWLY , SLOWLY!! as you pull the brush. I still blow the lower 2/3s in two layers (an upper and lower section). Ionic blowdryers require direct contact (I mean 1 inch away) with the hair it is drying. After drying spray lightly with hair spray and blow dry one more time each section, this seals the hair shaft and helps protect it from FRIZZING! Believe me I live in South Florida (since 1974) and I KNOW about frizz! Every morning LIGHTLY spray the bottom 2/3 only (not the top) with a spray shine and brush. To refresh the bounciness, BLOW DRY with the IONIC dryer for 2 minutes!! You will be amazed at how this helps limp or dull hair look better!! And it will neutalize odors from smoke or sweat too!! You don't even need a brush just blow dry all over and flip your head over. I am 42 and my hair looks as healthy as my 15 yr olds. NO REGULAR BLOW DRYER EVER! If you remember one thing it's that one.

I'ld hate to burst your bubble but hair is made of dead skin cells and extra proteins from your body. If your so concerned about a proven tip being "disgusting" SHAVE YOUR HEAD! I live by the beach and regularly swim in not just the ocean but the nearby pool just about everyday. And guess what. I RINSE MY HAIR as does almost everyone I know here. I'm not one for combing conditioner through my hair, although I know plenty who do it. Instead I condition my hair as usual and then recondition only rinsing about half of it out. To where I can still feel it in the hair but not excessively. That works!

For a lot of people, washing your hair every day is too drying and your hair can in turn become brittle with over-drying. I wear my hair VERY long, but I go to the lengths to keep up with it. That includes washing it every 2, maybe 3 days depending. A blowdryer can also be harmful if used often. Different things work for different people. It doesn't mean it's disgusting........... now if you're going weeks w/o washing and your scalp is flaking all over the place... then it's time for a shower.

Ok, you obviously are not a very intelligent person.....because if you had any clue about ANYTHING, you would know that washing your hair everyday is actually BAD FOR YOUR HAIR. But instead you are one of those idiots that believes "the word that goes around" and think that you are, like, "uncool" or something if you don't wash your hair every day, instead of actually using your own mind for once and thinking for yourself about WHAT MAKES SENSE!! In reality you should go about two or three days.....that is not to say that if you get dirty you shouldn't take a shower, obviously if you need one, you need one....but if you are a typical idiot girl, (which there are alot of those in our society these days) you don't do ANYTHING to GET physically dirty, so people like you (who do not do manual labor) taking a shower everyday is nothing but a waste of water, time, product (which is only costing you money...gee no wonder the backs of shampoos say to use daily), and is only doing more harm than good to your hair and skin. If you were a smart person in anyway you would know these things and more importantly you would also realize that by washing your hair EVERYDAY you are washing out all the natural oils that YOUR HAIR NEEDS!!! THE NUTRIENTS AND VITAMINS THAT YOUR HAIR NEEDS!!! Yeah if you don't BRUSH your hair those minerals and oils will build up and look greasy (after a couple days) but that is why it is important to brush your hair. Not so that your hair lays perfectly where you want it to....a conceited, self-consumed idiot would think that....it is to extend those oils that your hair needs through your hair and to the ends....BECAUSE YOUR HAIR NEEDS IT. BUT, if you are an idiot and wash your hair every day, not because you are a construction worker, and not because you work with horses everyday, not even because you were rolling in the mud......just because your an idiot that simply doesn't know any better....then your hair isn't getting those nutrients. Considering there are alot of idiots like you out there....that explains why everytime I go into a salon they are praising my "amazingly" healthy hair that so many other people don't have, and why I'll still have mine at 50 and you won't. I'm glad I could teach your tiny little mind something, hopefully you were able to retain it. Also......only an IDIOT would think that a PROFESSIONAL "doesn't know what they are talking about". That's right, stay in school kids and think for yourselves or this could happen to you too. Maybe one day this "poopstainpee" (nice name for yourself) will go on to finish school and "MAYBE" be a professional in something (unlikely) only to have people who are too young and too stupid to know ANYTHING tell them that THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT! in their own profession. Do you hear yourself when you speak or do you just talk out of your @$$ all the time???

Just a quick note to people who think not washing your hair everyday is disgusting...just because you don't wash your hair doesn't mean you can't take a shower idiot...everyone(no matter how active or inactive they are) needs to take a shower every day. That's just good personal hygiene...HOWEVER washing your hair every day is bad(as well as blowdrying it all the time)...solutions???
1) If you don't mind blowdrying or want to restyle, just wet your hair. This allows you to have the oppurtunity to restyle your hair or whatever you want to do.
2) This is my personal favorite(because i hate blowdrying)-USE A SHOWER CAP! Your hair doesn't get wet and and you get to be all squeaky clean...wow!

I use Paul Mitchell Sculpting Foam (a great mouse for thick hair BTW) and then a blow dryer while styling with a big round bristle brush... it makes my hair light and it can stay styled without falling. If it doesn't work (whethr not enough or too much mousse, or my hair is too long) I then use Got 2 B Glued Blasting-Freeze spray... it makes my hair hard for those rigid spikes.
If I don't want all that, I usually just put a little mousse in and spike it in the front. It really works if you have thick hair.

I don't use any hair products besides shampoo and conditioner. No hairspray, no gel, no mousse...no curling irons, no blow dryers, no straighteners/crimpers. I trim my split ends, and shampoo and condition regularly. My hair is a healthy 2 feet 5 and a half inches long.

I live on the beach and I do rinse my hair before going into not just the ocean but any pools as well. I do not comb through conditioner. Instead what I do is condition my hair as usual and then condition it again; only the second time I only rinse out about half, to where I can still feel it in my hair. I also do not shampoo my hair everyday. Although you have to get the salt/chlorine and other stuff out of your hair. I use the aspirin and water solution trip. I shampoo about every three days. I have long, shiny, silky hair that everyone seems to compliment me on!

I don't use any products besides shampoo, conditioner, aspirin and water solution, occasionally a felt covered curling iron, and VERY RARELY Pantene Pro-V flexible hold hair spray.

And on extremely hot, sunny days it is actually healthier for your hair to use a blow dryer on cold instead of drying it out in the heat. Unless of course you're just going to be inside or something till it dries completely.

The aspirin water thing strips your hair of harmful things that have accumulated in your hair. The article recomends five aspirins to a quart of water. That's for older individuals who's color spots from acumulated product and other ickies in the air. Us yound folks don't need so much of course. But when you live by the beach and are active in the ocean and pools, ect. it is mandatory to get those ickies from the water out quick, before the damage. Solution? Crunch up 1-2 aspirins and mix with water in a large spray bottle. In the shower, after swimming, sray in hair and let set for about 2 mins. Then rinse out and condition as usual. Sometimes it helps to mix in 1-3 drops of rosemary oil or other scented oils. Adds a nice fragrance.

A great product to add shine, detangle, de-frizz and protect against damage from styling tools like irons and dryers - Red E To Go. It's a red bottle of MAGIC. You gotta try it, especially on towel dried hair and them use a round brush and blowdryer. WOW.

I know this sounds completely GROSs but it really does work if you dont really think about what is going in your hair. but u mix one raw egg and mayo together and leave in like a deep conditioner then wash with SHAMPO and conditioner. (the shampo is to take the smell out of your hair ) the conditioner isnt really needed unless your have really tight curls like mine.
**I am telling you this really works. It makes your hair smooth, shiny, helps with growth, keeps is strong and easy to style.. I it amazing! No stylist has told me it's bad yet ** Go0d-luck :-)

I habitually skip 1 or 2 days between washes of my hair, but that's because i don't use much ANY kind of styling products or sprays/gels/mousse's of ANY kind... If I were to do that, i would definately want to wash it out every day. When i do wash my hair, i use a LOT of shampoo (palm full) and massage my scalp VERY deeply with my finger tips for a full 3-5 minutes... There will be a lot of suds everywhere. I rinse thoroughly and then comb the conditioner through with my finger tips and leave it in while i take the rest of my shower, then i rinse the conditioner out. I also rarely if ever blowdry, I pat and squeeze dry my hair with a towel, brush it once while it's still wet and then let it air dry without touching it any more until it is completely dry, this makes it super curly and fairly frizz free. For times i have a late shower right before bed and i won't have time to air dry before going to bed, i brush and braid it wet and then sleep with it like that, it is mostly dry the next morning, i just unbraid it, brush it again and let it finish drying. I am extremely proud of my long honey brown curly hair and try to bring out it's natural beauty, the only hair styles i ever put it in is ponytail, braid, half-up and in a clip. i never use any kind of styling stuff, colorants, frizz reducers or anything in it.

For dry, damaged, and color treated hair used Body Shop's Honey Moisturizing Shampoo. Works wonders for your hair. Then use Sunsilk Damage repair once or thrice a week and your hair will be gorgeous as ever in no time. I used to have badly damaged and dry hair due to coloring, so I tried these. Plus, it's costs less than going to the salon for treatments or products sold in salons.
