Team USA gets Ralph Lauren, New Zealand gets Crocs

Can you think of anything more unfair? As we've already told you, Team USA will be sporting Ralph Lauren for the opening ceremony at the Beijing Olympics, and the New Zealand Olympians will be schlumping around in an official uniform that includes Crocs.
The women will be wearing the sueded "Alice" style for the opening ceremony, and then all the athletes will wear the ever-popular Beach model. The kicker with this is that Olympic chef de mission Dave Currie said the shoes would be "very stylish."
Though she's not alone, fashion designer Denise L'Estrange Corbet has been extremely vocal in her opposition of the decision, saying "All the other Olympic teams will look smart and wear trainers, and we'll be plodding along with these big, plastic, ugly, hideous, vile things. ... They are actually one thing I would like to put in a pile and blow up."
We kind of agree. However, apparently an "athlete design panel" was involved in the decision to make Crocs part of the uniform, so we're not sure how much sympathy they actually deserve.
