Have slips been replaced by Spanx?
How many of you own a slip? We're not talking about a slip dress -- we mean a real, actual slip that is worn under a dress, and, theoretically, not seen at all. Now, if you own one, do you wear it?
This question was asked over at Friday Style, and the answers were interesting. Not surprisingly, there seems to be a generation gap -- apparently some grandmothers were simply aghast that their little ones weren't wearing slips with their dresses this Easter, while the younger set was amazed that anyone still wore slips.
The general consensus seemed to be that most women, if they even own a slip, only wear it when absolutely necessary (like when their dress is otherwise see-through in front of a window), and even then, it's generally a half slip or Spanx. There was also quite a bit of discussion over the lack of quality slips readily available, though from the sound of it, we doubt that quality is really the issue.
What do you think? Have slips given way to Spanx? Or do you just refrain from wearing anything extra under your dress?

I do own a slip, which I will wear when a dress is scratchy or transparent. Normally, though, I find that my bra and a pair of Spanx Power Panties or Higher Power are enough underwear to wear with any dress or skirt.

Hi Cheryl,
I personally have not worn a slip, but have been a Spanx fan for several years. I was first introduced to their footless pantyhose about three years ago for cross country skiing. After thoroughly enjoying the experience I had with my Spanx, I decided to try some of their other lines. As a young male, I was constantly disappointed with the short life span I was getting out of boxers/briefs and I was looking for an alternative. I was recommended by one of my female friends to try Spanx's power panties. Since I had such great success with the footless pantyhose, I was all for trying them. That was roughly two years ago and I have not worn anything except Spanx powerpanties ever since. I think they are the most wonderful product and can't get over the longevity I have gotten out of them. I have since tried their trouser socks and the full lenth pantyhose under dresspants.
I have contacted Spanx several times to see if men's lines are in the plans but nothing yet. I look forward to continuing to enjoy and wear my Spanx! Glad you are enjoying them too.
regards,
N
