How to be sexy like a French woman
You know how the story goes. French women don't get fat. French women are among the most stylish in the world. Men love French women. And it's true. Johnny Depp, arguably once the most eligible bachelor on this planet is in a long term relationship with a French woman. Take what you will from that.So how do they do it? Keep reading for just four little secrets that will help us all tap into our inner glam French woman.
The first rule of thumb that French women follow is this -- Exercise clothes are strictly for exercising. Don't think you're going to run to the supermarket in a ratty t-shirt in France without getting some odd looks. And don't even consider going to get coffee in those yoga pants. No, once you're done working out, you must immediately shower and then put your heels back on. French women are intriguing because they're never caught with their glamor guard down.
The second general rule is that you should invest in some good lingerie. French women spend 20% of their clothing budget on inner wear. Being sexy is a mental thing. And if you're wearing sexy clothes underneath your work attire odds are good that you'll feel hot and project the confidence that makes you look hot. In France, lingerie is so important that once when a department store named Galeries Lafayette opened up, they offered free strip tease lessons to show women how to take it off correctly.
Thirdly, when it comes to makeup, less is more. Properly maintain your skin with peels and polishes and treatments galore, but don't wear to much makeup. The French think that too much makeup makes a women look older and vulgar.
And lastly, be classy and polite at all times. Say, "Good day," even to the bus driver. You shouldn't talk too loud. Avoid talking about religion, politics and money over dinner. Eat everything with a fork and never go to the bathroom. Just kidding. You can go, but just don't mention the actual word -- ahem, you know.

Devynn, just because the tips are good for French woman doesn't mean they can't work for American women too!

In France over half of the women are victims of marital violence and abuse and are not aware of their rights as human beings. Many of them have no where to turn after they have been a victim. I don"t think thats "sexy". It is also not sexy to feel afraid to speak one's mind (i.e. politics) because they are a woman.

this is pathetic! i'm an AMERICAN, and i'm DAMN SEXY! i don't need some frenchie telling me how to be. and to tell you the truth, we don't need this kind of drama. let the french do their thing, but remember that what works for one group, is NOT gonna work for another.

actually, kyle, an american woman who is secure in herself doesn't need the french to give her advice on how to be sexy. what pisses me off the most about this french obession the fashion and entertainment industry has, is that it completely disregards an individual approach to sexiness. plus, it makes women feel that they have to use sex to get what they want out of life. i thought we were above that in this day and age?

Well Devynn, I guess it just all boils down to personal opinion :) As a secure American woman myself I really enjoy learning from other cultures, and I also enjoy feeling sexy...for me, not to get anything particular out of life as you say, but because it makes me feel good.

I agree with Kyle -- there's nothing wrong with looking at how other cultures express femininity, sexuality, or confidence. It certainly doesn't mean that you have to take that advice -- there's nothing "need" based about it. I doubt many folks at all are reading this because they just don't know how to be sexy. More likely they're interested in how someone else does it differently than they do, and maybe they'll learn a tip or have a laugh. After all, fashion is fun, regardless of where it originates or ends up, right?

I have been the Paris many times--starting in in 1978 until my last trip a year ago, and sometimes I think the idea that French women are more sexy is a bit of a myth. American women may not be as thin, but they are prettier and better groomed. I looked very closely at the French women in Paris. They were haggard, exhausted, wearing cheap clothing, and lots of black, black black. There is a whole industry of books and articles selling psuedo French style--a style that is myth more than the reality.

Um... a proposito della galleria... You do realise that Carla Bruni is not in the slightest bit French? She's actually Italian, and an ex model to boot. And she's the sexiest of the lot of them. And no, I'm not Italian: Im from the UK.
