Spring 2008 Trend Alert: Tie-dyed fashions
Whenever I think of tie-dyed garments the first thing that comes to mind is 'summer camp' -- not going to summer camp (I was far too cool for that) but actually teaching summer camp. Working with dozens of children assisting them in creating a garment that was destined to be a disaster. Deep down I think the kids knew that their tie-dyed creations were a disaster too because they were seldom worn outside of campgrounds. That was then, this is now.
When left to professionals, tie-dye can actually be cool. From dresses to swim wear, expect to see tie-dyed apparel make an appearance in your everyday attire this coming spring.
I am a fan of the floor length tie-dye gowns, they give an easy-breezy sort of feel and are easy to throw on and walk out the door. Pair your tie-dyed garments with flat gladiator sandals and a hobo style bag for a complete look.

Tie dyed should stay dead..... they were hideous in the 60's, and they're just as hideous now.

Tie Dye is totally cool. Not to mention it also represents an awsome generation..."the 60's". I'm glad it's making a comeback!!!

What!!!!????
Are the designers today, so bad, they can't think of a look to define this decade? I am tired of looking at the same old thing in stores, rack after rack... Looks like fashion may be stuck for centuries in this 60's, 70's "look"! Just like the dark ages!
Maybe they should be inspired by the 80's. Although crazy, unpredictable and sometimes ridiculous...it was fun...!

The 80s have already made their comeback....
I liked what some designers were doing with Victorian wear. The button to the neck tops and button shoes are adorable and chic with a modern flare to them.

well guess what whatever^, they brought tie-dye back in the '80s also, and the brought the other styles from the '80s back too. I bet poddle skirts will be brought back too.
I'm all for the '90s "comeback" because there was no style?! The problem with that though was people followed (can't win here). But people did their own thing and didn't follow anyone for the most part.
(the '90s were actually fun because you were less focused on clothing)

I read somewhere that if anything you lived through the first time comes back, you should NOT do it again.
I agree wholeheartedly with that thought when it comes to tie-dye!

Tie-dye is horrendous. It always has been, and always will be.
This is when it becomes obvious that some things are better off forgotten.

This is so boring. Tie dye has been back once before in the 80s. Let's all give it a rest. Every time it's in the stores somebody remembers how to do it at home. That's when things get silly and sad.

I think it is fantastic that it is coming back! There is something special about the 60's. I have never given up my tie dye and don't intend to. I will be the 80 year old lady one day in my tie dye tank top and long dresses, ha! I used to make all the tie dye clothes for street fair vendors in Southern Ca and still have everything if the mood strikes me to take that up again beyond doing for myself and friends.

as they say...
what goes around comes around.
the same is true for fashion. Hemlines go up and down, necklines do the same.
I just hope the bubble skirt does NOT come back.

Children can get away with tie dye in the middle of summer at the beach but a grown up wearing it is wrong !! It's like the stupid crocks, again a little kids can get away with it but my god do not put this on a boy and not a grown man !!! They would be a laughing stock ! comfortable is what I hear they are but other shoes offer comfort too !

Tie-dye has always had a certain amount of appeal 'all-its-own,' through the decades. Thats why it is still around. If you don't like it, don't wear it. If you are part of that group that digs it, very cool! (I happen to include myself in it.) I personally couldn't care less about what the fashion gods or goddesses of the world are preaching about 'what is the current hot style,' Blah-blah-blah to them. I'm my own person, I do my own thing, on my own terms. I have carved out my niche in the universe. I will never follow the pack. Gotta run, just had to leave my 2-cents worth, as if anyone out there actually gives a flying-ph@#$ about anything that anyone else says about anything anyway.....
