High Tide Heels: for the sexy scuba diver

I guess these are for women who like to scuba dive off of Hugh Hefner's yacht, 'cause there's no way you'd be able to walk in heels on the beach. That said, I'm not sure you'd be able to walk in these on any surface, so it's possible that their only purpose is to help your legs look sexier ... underwater.
How They might, however, make a cute gift for your favorite ultra-girly diving enthusiast -- assuming you can find them. The only mention of High Tide Heels that I've come across was the above photo, and my attempts at tracking down the shoes' manufacturer on the Interwebatron have come up empty-handed. And, if this Yahoo Answers thread is any indication, no one else can find them either.
Maybe they'll turn up, but, at least for now, it looks like you'll have to keep scuba diving in flats. Bummer.

They may be an art project:

if you look at an enhanced picture, you can see there are canvases next to the black ones on the right and a desk which makes it look like they are in display in an art gallery

The comments and the enhanced picture in particular have me convinced this is an art gallery or the like. And from the look of the boxes, the labels are sticks on, not pre-printed, suggesting these are indeed show pieces only. Also, although I haven't check this theory, I doubt any scuba diving fins would bend under their own weight much like the front of the fins do in the picture. I know mine would most definitely not. Impractical, illogical, but definitely a conversation piece. I guess the artist achieved his or her objective.

The commemt in the article about "assuming you can find an ultra girlie scuba diving enthusiast" makes me think the author believes there aren't such women. There are. I am one. You dont have to be a super athelete to dive. But I do believe the shoes are just art. Its almost impossible to walk in normal fins. unless it backwards.

these are probably the only three pair made.........
maybe with a halloween costume??? Not sure how you would walk in these though.
it would make a great picture to hang in maybe a game room, or a scuba store

They are obviously fake. You'd have to have a super thin foot. There is no structure, no way these could support the weight of an average woman. And when you view the enhanced photo, you can see lots of "art" with price tags in the background. Obviously an art store of some kind. But absolutely creative. I bet having these in the window has increased their traffic significantly.

I'd buy them as a conversation piece. They're kitschy cute!!! I'm intrigued as to what they're made of, they look so real. I would never think of wearing them (I don't like heels.) But they're hella-cute!
As for the labels, I've bought shoes in plain white boxes that have had labels on the side like that. Who's to say it isn't some mom and pop shop (probably overseas.) You see all kinds of things in those cute little stores.

Lindsay Lohan was wearing a beach version of these at her 21st birthday party. You can see them in gossip page photos. The flipper style makes more sense to me than walking in sand on high rubber heels.

I would hope that these are the first attempt at art by some long leg loving, totally crazy scuba diving enthusiast MAN. No woman in her right ming would wear these much less invent them. I would buy them to use as a prank for the instructor. Can't you just see the look on the dive-loving instructors face when I pull those puppies out and get suited up. LMAO, oh that's priceless.

Okay these had to be designed by a man...and one who was either not working with his medication..or worse yet one that hadn't tested out at a theraputic level. Either way he was out of his little non existant mind !!!
