News Flash: Men hate baby doll dresses
Baby doll dresses give women the freedom to say "yes" to bread. It allows women to say "Sure I will have another cupcake." It also keeps mouths hushed when it comes to the question "How many calories are in that?"
Ladies, did we ever think men actually enjoyed seeing us in baby doll dresses? We hoped, but we were wrong: The New York Post has just published a story damning baby doll dresses straight to hell. What is wrong with a baby doll dress? Let me count the ways:
- They make you look pregnant.
- They make you look fat.
- They make you stuff that carb laden piece of bread down your throat which makes you fat!
- Men hate them.
I can hear the cries now, "You shouldn't dress for a man!" (insert head twist and a snap). But seriously, men like women's bodies and not some poofy sack of fabric. Don't believe me? Check out these quotes:
"Most girls look fatter in them," he said. "Guys do not like baby doll dresses."
"I like ass," he says. "I like all types of asses and a pair of jeans that really contours to it. I'm not going to hate on baby-dolls, but nothing beats a good ass."
Still not convinced? Suit yourself. You go ahead and look fat ... more men for me. Thanks.

Have guys ever heard of comfortable clothes on women? I mean come on sometimes a dress thats not tight is nice to wear. I don't think women wear them so they can stuff there face, its just something they like to wear. i don't think it makes everyone that wears them look fat either. i mean yes some people just shouldn't wear them but its ok for others to, so for the people that can pull them off, leave them alone. thatsd my opinion on the whole thing.

...And I thought your Kelly Clarkson article was bad? Way to put down women. I'm not going to wear anything that I don't want to wear, and I'm not going to not wear anything because a man doesn't like it. Obviously you have an abundance of insecurity if you're going to bow down to a man who simply "likes all asses."
Again, it makes your articles even more painful to read with the lack of punctuation and perspective of a preteen.

I absolutely disagree with the other people putting you down for making a valid point. The reality is men do really hate baby doll dresses. I'm not saying NEVER EVER wear them again. I just see some women buy majority of dresses in babydoll because it's comfortable. But sometimes, it does make a person look bigger than they actually are. So to Talia who called you a moron, calm down on the whole feminist uproar.

You know, Lauren, this might come as a shock to you but, some men actually do find a pregnant woman's body to be very attractive. Anyway, the baby-doll dress (tops too, like the ones from Old Navy) does make you look pregnant weather you are or not. On a pregnant woman it kind of hides the fact that she is pregnant and only makes her look fat. I have never liked them on anyone, it's just not a very flattering look at all.

The harshest reactions generally come from people who can't handle the truth, and truth be told, if the majority of guys were given a choice between a hot woman with a flat belly, firm breasts and tight butt or what these women like to call curvy (aka overweight, usually) hot would win everytime. No one said a pregnant woman isn't beautiful, but looking pregnant when not is not beautiful. Beyoncé is curvy, Christina Aguilera is curvy, Jordin Sparks is big and Kelly Clarkson is big. These women can b.s. themselves all they want, but guys will continue to crave HOT, and curvy women will continue to make the diet industry rich. There are comfy clothes and there are hot clothes, they rarely are one in the same. Lauren, you're my new hero!

OH NO! They could make you look - GASP - pregnant!?! What is wrong with looking pregnant? I don't think anything is wrong with a woman looking pregnant. When I think of a pregnant lady I think of someone who is beautiful and strong of mind and body. WHY? Because pregnancy is physically and mentally taxing but at the same time a pregnant woman rises above the discomforts and realizes that NOTHING is more beautiful than the gift of life.
How do I know all this? I've been pregnant 3 times now and sorry but I have little respect for people like you who put down women that look womanly. Grow up and get a clue, Baby Doll.
Not all men hate baby doll dresses, most guys really don't care too much about clothes, they care far more about the woman inside 'em.
Also, the dresses are cute and some women, apparently not you, can look good in just about anything.

i've thought this for a while now and kept it to myself...guess i wasn't alone. this dress easily makes a good body look fat/preggers. sure, girls don't have to dress to impress guys or be comfortable, but shorts and a t-shirt are comfortable; and they don't make you look preg-a-roo either. i say ban the baby doll.

Oh, I also forgot to add that the Post article is hypocritical because it says that women should not dress as the fashion industry tells them, but implies that they should dress as men tell them. But then, it's the Post, so what did I expect?
Also--get this--not everyone thinks stick thin women are attractive! Anyone who bases their relationships on looks is destined to be desperately unhappy, so good luck with that.

What I take issue with in the above article and comments is not the idea that some people may find the babydoll unattractive. To each his or her own. What I take issue with is the idea that, clearly, all women should be dressing to attract men, because of course there's nothing else in life. And of course there are no men out there smart enough to be attracted to a woman for more than her body. Who would want a relationship that wasn't based on sex, anyway?
I have no problem with looking hot. I'm reasonably attractive, but I'm also smart, and I prefer to attract men on that basis--looking hot is just a bonus. And, I have to say, I have some babydolls that make my chest look great, so they're not all bad. I just don't think looking hot is all there is, and I don't like thinking that if I'm not wearing skin tight clothing ALL THE TIME, then I can NEVER GET A MAN. Whatever. If that's what it takes to get a man, I'm not interested.

EXCELLENT article. Babydoll dresses and shirts only make you look pregnant, even if you're a size 0. And no to all who said they were, but pregnant women aren't *physically* beautiful to the average passerby, but what they're doing is beautiful and wonderful, and what they *should* be doing in their lives. There's a distinction.
Women today (since the late 60's) are so stupid. I guess most of these girls commenting here and saying this article is BS just have to say "well, um, I don't need a man anyway! I don't have to dress for a man! Stupid men, I don't need 'em... *goes to NOW meeting in Birkenstocks with no makeup on*" because they can't get one. So they decide to just wear what they want and disguise the real reason they do by calling it "self-esteem" when it's really because, even when they tried to dress to attract men, it didn't work. If you're not dressing to attract men and make yourself look fabulous, why bother? Just wear a bath robe and no make-up, because, based on the logic you dress for yourself, that would be the best choice because it's comfortable and easy to do.
So YES, dress for the opposite sex. You don't have to be tiny to do it, you have to know HOW to dress to be attractive. And the baby-doll dress does this for NO ONE--but they do look cute on pregnant girls.

Heaven forbid a woman should need to lose 20 pounds; however, we are supposed to accept their balding heads, hideously unattractive goatees, tattoos, piercings, general bad behavior and their big fat beer guts! Frankly, you can keep 'em ALL and do ME a favor!

When a woman is attractive, she looks good in anything and men notice her no matter what she wears, whether a baby doll dress, PJS, or a mini skirt. I've gotten hit on wearing sweats! lol Apparently, this author of this article must not be very naturally attactive because she has to get really dressed up and show as much body parts as possible to get a man to notice her body instead of her face or anything else. And yes, not all men like stick figures and many do like pregnant women and think it is cute. The only men who want girls to dress like hookers all day all those looking for a wh**re they can have for a night or two. If thats the kind of men she wants to keep to herself, be my guest!

I guess I must have it made then.. I am a woman who dresses for WOMEN.. They do not care about my fashion sense or clothing that adds pounds, the concern is usually what I have underneath. Come to think of it, it was the same way with men. Let's face it, we all care more about what is under the fashion than the fashion itself!!!

I agree that baby doll dresses are comfortable, but I think they make people look fat or like they are trying to hide that muffin top.
I make a point to NEVER ask people if they are pregnant unless it is absolutely obvious, but even I have even made the accidental slip to someone wearing a baby doll dress. Yikes! There is nothing wrong with being pregnant, but most women don't like having the mistaken question asked when they are not pregnant.
Sure, wear them if you really don't care (but deep down inside there just aren't many of those people out there). Just don't wear them unless you don't mind people thinking you are or asking if you are pregnant.
