Seven Days of Style: to help you count down

seven days of telling timeIt's that time of year when all we do is stare at the clock, waiting for the moment when the big and little hand meet at the top to usher in the New Year. To help you keep pace in style, whether you're sitting comfortably at home in front of the TV or out under the stars on your fourth glass of Champagne, here are seven clocks and watches.

Sunday - For the home, we like to go a little natural, a little high tech. The LED clock is a block of wood with LED lights layered under the veneer. When the clock is on, it glows red. If you're faced with a deadline and don't want to know how close it is, turn the clock off and it's a lovely decorative block of wood. Available for $150 at Uncommon Goods.

Monday - If watches aren't quite your thing -- whether because they're too bulky or get in the way when you're trying to bang out a hundred posts while blogging (oh, that's just me) -- then you might still be able to tell time without having to ask around. The Tempo Time Tag is a tiny little tag that does nothing else but display the time. You can attach it anywhere, so it works to clip onto your shirtsleeves (men), or your handbag (ladies).

Tuesday - For the gadgetrous guy, the dot matrix LED watch is so lovably nerdy. The watch features a grid of 80 protruding LEDs lights on a leather cuff that scroll to cycle through one of five different patterns that show the date and/or time. The watch comes in black leather with red lights or brown leather with orange/yellow lights. Available at the LED Watch Superstore for $119.

Wednesday - A man doesn't get any more suave and sophisticated than James Bond, and though the Spy Who (I wish) Loved Me wears a Rolex in Ian Fleming's books, the character on the big screen wears an Omega. If you have the juice, you can try to get your hands (wrists?) on one of the the new "limited edition" 10,007 Omega watches that are equipped with co-axial escapement, James Bond logo and the second hand with the 007 gun logo on one side.

Thursday - For the ladies, watches aren't functional. They're fashionable. Juicy Couture lets you wear a darling little charm bracelet that still lets Cinderella take off before midnight. The Charmed I'm Sure bracelet is a limited edition piece (or pieces, rather), made of stainless steel. Besides the watch charm that is shaped like a roulette wheel, the other charms all fall into the Vegas theme: red die, dollar sign, shamrock and horseshoe for good luck, and a $5 poker chip.

Friday - The Diva can't go without diamonds, and the Gucci Twirl Watch with Full Diamond Rotating Case will not disappoint. The watch, which is only $3,295 at Nordstrom, is a stainless steel cuff with Gucci logo pierced into it. The rotating case is encircled with diamonds, and if that isn't enough, the brown face is also framed with diamonds. Of course, if $3,295 is a little too much, you can always go with the same watch with only one circle of diamonds for $1,675, or the wider cuff that has no diamonds for $875.

Saturday - Last but not least, though they will likely be in bed before the clock strikes midnight, the kids still need something to tell time. Though we are going the way of digital in this world faster than you can say your ABCs, you still want to teach your kids how to tell time the old-fashioned way. The Time Teacher Watch by Timex does just that.
